Fans of Wheel of Fortune have seen Pat Sajak host the show for decades.

But what happened during a recent episode left fans speechless.

And Wheel of Fortune fans went berserk after this celebrity replaced Pat Sajak as host.

Wheel of Fortune pulls an elaborate April Fool’s prank

The April 1 episode of Wheel of Fortune was unlike any that fans of the long-running game show had seen before.

Actor and musician Jared Leto walked with hostess Vanna White at the beginning of the episode.

“Here are the stars of our show, Jared Leto and Vanna White,” Jim Thornton, the show’s announcer, declared to the shock of fans.

Leto is the frontman for the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars and has starred in movies like Requiem for a Dream and The Thin Red Line.

“Have a great show and see you soon,” Leto told White before he took Sajak’s typical place by the wheel. “All right, everybody, grab those devices, it’s time to give away some money. A $1,000 in our first toss-up, the category is on the map.”

Then longtime host Pat Sajak came out to replace Leto, and the show went on as usual without any mention of his appearance for the rest of the episode.

And Leto joked on social media about the appearance by asking, “How’d I do?”

Wheel of Fortune fans on social media quickly picked up on the April Fool’s prank.

“I want to so badly know how the phone call went to Jared Leto to do this prank on #wheeloffortune. I can’t stop laughing. It was so random, I thought I was having a fever dream or something,” a viewer wrote.

That was Leto’s second time appearing on the hit game show.

Last November, he and his brother and bandmate, Shannon, appeared as contestants to announce Thirty Seconds to Mars’ 2024 world tour.

And April Fool’s pranks aren’t new for Wheel of Fortune.

In 1997, Sajak traded places with Jeopardy! Host Alex Trebek for the day.

Jared Leto has pulled elaborate stunts to promote his band’s latest tour

Last year, in the same month in which he appeared on Wheel of Fortune, Leto climbed 20 stories of New York City’s Empire State Building to promote his band’s new album and upcoming world tour.

He stood nearly 1,300 feet off of the ground on the legendary skyscraper.

“I was more excited than nervous to tell you the truth,” Leto told NBC’s The Today Show after the stunt. “But I have to be honest, it was very, very hard. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Just the endurance that it took, the stamina that it took, and it was very sharp.”

When asked about the view from the top of the tall building, Leto said it was “incredible.”

“It’s incredible,” Leto said. “I mean to watch the sunrise overlooking the city that’s meant so much to me. Ever since I was a kid, you know, New York stood for the place that you went to make your dreams come true.”
