They may soon face the consequences of weaponizing the justice system for political gain.
And Liz Cheney asked the Supreme Court to issue one ruling that could land Barack Obama in jail.
Liz Cheney demands Supreme Court side with Democrats
The Supreme Court is hearing a case involving former President Donald Trump’s claim of Presidential immunity from being prosecuted in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s sham criminal case involving January 6.
Disgraced Rep. Liz Cheney (RINO-WY) took to the pages of the New York Times to demand that the Supreme Court reject Trump’s immunity claim.
She claimed that Trump should have “no immunity” from criminal prosecution and that the January 6 case needed to go to trial as quickly as possible.
“The justices should also recognize the profoundly negative impact they may have if the court does not resolve these issues quickly and decisively,” Cheney wrote. “If delay prevents this Trump case from being tried this year, the public may never hear critical and historic evidence developed before the grand jury, and our system may never hold the man most responsible for Jan. 6 to account.”
The immunity case has put the possibility of Trump being convicted before the 2024 election in question.
Democrats want the case to start as soon as possible because they know they’ll likely get a conviction from a Soviet-style show trial with an Obama-appointed judge and a jury picked from a Democrat-controlled city in which President Biden won more than 90% of the vote in 2020.
But they haven’t considered the Pandora’s Box they’re opening by asking the Supreme Court to reject Trump’s Presidential immunity argument.
Eliminating Presidential immunity opens the door to trying Obama and Biden
Cheney and Smith argue that Presidential immunity doesn’t protect the Commander-in-Chief from actions he committed while in office.
Presidential immunity is essential to keeping the country from becoming a banana republic in which the former President is arrested by the opposing party once they leave office for doing their job.
Every American Presidents’ decision-making in office would be constrained by the possibility they could be arrested for the slightest issue after leaving the White House.
Trump pointed out on Truth Social that throwing out Presidential immunity opens the door for Biden to be prosecuted.
“IF THEY TAKE AWAY MY PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY, THEY TAKE AWAY CROOKED JOE BIDEN’S PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY,” Trump wrote.
If Trump returns to the White House after the 2024 election, the elimination of Presidential immunity would allow the Trump Justice Department to charge Biden and former President Barack Obama for a slew of crimes they committed in office.
In 2011, Obama unilaterally ordered a drone strike that killed American citizen Anwar al-Awlaki and his teenage son without a trial.
Should the Supreme Court reject Presidential immunity, it would allow a Trump Justice Department to try Obama for murdering American citizens.
Democrats are trying to destroy the Constitution in their quest to get Donald Trump without thinking about the consequences of their foolish actions.
