Joe Biden is using green energy to take a wrecking ball to the country.

Nothing is safe from his extreme agenda.

And Kevin O’Leary issued a dire warning about Joe Biden’s latest environmental extremist scheme.

President Joe Biden’s electric vehicle mandates are spreading to commercial trucks.

His Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced new tailpipe emission standards beginning in 2027 that will create a de facto electric vehicle mandate.

EPA Administrator Michael Regan vowed that the rule would create “deep cuts in emissions from the transportation sector.

Kevin O’Leary says the technology doesn’t exist for electric trucking

Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary warned that President Biden is poised to bankrupt small businesses with the truck emission rule during an appearance on Fox News.

“We talk about this quite a bit in the sector of the economy where [there are] 5 to 500 employees, small businesses that use a lot of transportation services for consumer goods and services. There’s no way this is going to work on that schedule,” O’Leary said.

O’Leary claimed that making semis and other long-haul trucks electric is completely unworkable within current technological constraints.

“The batteries don’t exist for this,” O’Leary said.

Currently, the average large electric truck can travel roughly 200 miles on a single charge – although The Drive reported in September that real-world testing of a Tesla Semi hauling loads for Pepsi in Sacramento, California showed that the company’s truck achieved upwards of 375 miles on a single charge while hauling a typical payload for Pepsi’s gas-powered trucks.

“That’s not the definition of a long-haul transport… [It] won’t work,” O’Leary continued. “The grid is woefully underserved.”

O’Leary said that the EPA would have to change the standards or risk running the economy into the ground, warning it would “basically bankrupt where 62% of jobs are created in America: small business.”

“We don’t have the tech,” O’Leary said. “So let’s everybody wake up and smell the lithium batteries for a while – they don’t work yet.”

Consumer prices could go through the roof

American Trucking Association president Chris Spear told Fox Business that the price of trucks would skyrocket under the change.

“[That’s] assuming they can get these electric trucks,” Spear said. “They’re not going to have a place to plug in. They’re not going to have the power flowing through the infrastructure to charge.”

A charging network needed to accommodate long haul trucks and the extra electricity needed to charge them doesn’t exist yet.

The Biden regime dedicated $5 billion of taxpayer money in 2021’s fake infrastructure bill to building tens of thousands of new charging stations for electric vehicles.

So far, only seven have been built nationally.

There’s no chance the government is capable of building out a national network of charging stations for large trucks.

Driving up the price of transporting goods will lead to higher prices passed on to consumers and businesses destroyed.

Joe Biden is going to drive the economy straight off of a cliff by trying to go green.
