Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thought she was in the middle of making a brilliant point.
But it backfired in spectacular fashion.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez freaked out when confronted by this jarring reality.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took advantage of the House rules concessions won by conservatives to open up bills to amendments.
The first amendment Rep. Ocasio-Cortez proposed was a major plank of her Marxist Green New Deal.
This amendment would limit oil and natural gas leases in accordance with former President Barack Obama’s Paris Climate Accords.
Ocasio-Cortez launched into a socialist spiel about how crippling the American energy industry was necessary to combat so-called “climate change.”
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez then complained energy companies made too much money, even though President Joe Biden’s socialist spending sent inflation through the roof, raising prices.
President Biden also set about restricting production of oil and natural gas, which caused the price to rise.
“We know that leasing more land to fossil fuel companies does not guarantee that gas prices will drop,” Ocasio-Cortez stated. “As we’ve seen this past year, even when these companies have record profits they do not pass along those savings to their consumers. What leasing more land does do, however, is guarantee that we will accelerate the devastating impact of climate change.”
None of these facts mattered to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
But an open amendment process allowed for open debate, which meant Republicans could confront Rep. Ocasio-Cortez on her falsehoods.
And that is exactly what Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC) did.
Rep. Duncan explained that natural gas development led to the reduction in carbon emissions Ocasio-Cortez claimed was her goal.
“Go and learn for yourself about this,” Duncan responded. “Educate yourself on how America attained its low emissions. You care about the air quality, you care about climate change. Natural gas is what got America there. Educate yourself on that.”
But rather than debate Duncan, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez whined that he somehow attacked her personally because he did not address his remarks to the chair.
“I understand in this body it’s not the first time that it seems as though the opposing side can’t seem to be able to debate the issue,” Ocasio-Cortez whined. “And so, they must come after my character.”
“My mission here is for the well-being and dignity of our family and our planet’s future, for our children’s ability to live on this planet,” she added. “That is what this amendment is about.”
Ocasio-Cortez is a master of the Left’s new trick they like to play where speech is violence, and any disagreement is an assault on their identity.
The Marxist Green New Deal agenda Rep. Ocasio-Cortez supports is indefensible.
And that is why Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez resorted to childish complaining about technical violations of Robert’s Rules.
