81 year old Tom Selleck is an Army veteran who spent more than five decades building one of the most durable careers in television history.
He played Thomas Magnum for eight seasons, and then played Frank Reagan – a tough, God-fearing New York police commissioner – for 14 more seasons on Blue Bloods.
In August, Selleck sat down with CNN at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, where he premiered a documentary celebrating America's 250th birthday.
When a reporter asked why he hadn't publicly attacked President Trump, Selleck gave the kind of common-sense answer that's become almost radical in Hollywood.
"I stay out of the current political world," Selleck said. "Why piss off half the country when you're in the business of entertaining people?"
Michael Jordan applied the same logic to Nike for three decades, and audiences rewarded both men for it.
She-Hulk Star Tatiana Maslany Calls Conservative Stars Cowards
Tatiana Maslany is a Canadian actress who starred in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law – a 2022 Disney+ series that ran for exactly one season before Marvel quietly moved on.
On Monday, she appeared on the Zeteo podcast with Mehdi Hasan – a former MSNBC host whose channel collapsed so completely that even MSNBC shut it down – to announce that Tom Selleck and Michael Jordan are cowards.
"It's such a bizarre mentality," Maslany told Hasan. "It's so cowardly."
She insisted that "all entertainment is political" and that artists have an obligation to "name things."
Then she mocked Magnum, P.I. – pausing to laugh while dismissing the show that ranked in the Nielsen top 20 for five straight years and made Selleck a household name.
"I mean, I'm not thinking Tom Selleck is going, like, 'Magnum, P.I. should… really, really disturb people on a core level,'" she said.
Maslany had a ready explanation for why Selleck and Jordan won't speak up – money.
"Those are two very rich men who stand to lose a lot if they stand up for something," she told Hasan.

Alan Ritchson, the Reacher star who has made attacking Trump his entire personality, just bombed at the box office again with his latest film.
Every one of those failures preached the same politics Maslany was selling – and every one of them lost.
Maslany Complains About Censorship While Attacking Free Speech
The most revealing moment in the Zeteo interview wasn't the attack on Selleck.
It was when Maslany declared that she is "totally against" the Paramount merger because it might limit "the kinds of voices we can hear from" in entertainment.
This is the same woman who called on her Instagram followers to cancel their Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN subscriptions after Disney disciplined a left-wing talk show host for his political commentary.
Maslany said this about an industry that spent a decade blacklisting conservative writers, directors, and producers – where an actor still risks his entire career for saying something kind about a Republican.
She spent her podcast time attacking an 81-year-old American veteran for not being left-wing enough, then positioned herself as the one whose voice was in danger.
Tom Selleck built a 40-year career giving audiences what they actually wanted to watch, and Tatiana Maslany spent a podcast appearance explaining why that was wrong.
