Joe Manchin Told Sean Hannity His Former Party Is Too Scared to Stop the Socialist Takeover

Joe Manchin spent thirty years watching his party drag West Virginia into a ditch – then finally walked out.

Now he's sitting with Sean Hannity warning about something far worse than anything that drove him out.

And what Manchin just admitted to Hannity about his former party proves the socialist takeover isn't a theory anymore.

Manchin Told Hannity Democrats Watched the Party Become DSA and Stayed Silent

On the Hang Out with Sean Hannity podcast, Joe Manchin unloaded on the silence of his former Democrat colleagues.

The former West Virginia senator watched his former colleagues surrender the party to the hard left – and says most are too afraid to fight back.

"That's beyond me," Manchin said, when asked why longtime Democrats won't push back.

"[Members of the Democrat Party] went from liberal to progressives to DSA. It just keeps going on that trend."

This isn't a Republican attack line – it's from a man who spent fifteen years in the Senate fighting this drift before registering as an independent in May 2024.

His warning on Hannity wasn't about ideology – it was about the cowardice of veteran Democrats who see exactly what's happening and choose to say nothing.

Barack Obama reached out to Manchin twice during his entire presidency – once after the 2012 election and once in 2015 to lobby against Iran sanctions.

Trump spoke to him more in his first two years than Obama did in eight.

That's not a personality difference.

That's how much the party that claimed to represent West Virginia actually cared about West Virginia – and it explains why men like Manchin spent years getting shoved toward the door.

Former Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema, a Democrat turned independent, has publicly questioned whether moderates still have a place in the Democrat Party.

The DSA's 2026 winning streak answered that.

The Democratic Socialists of America Already Knocked Out Three Democratic House Members in 2026

Zohran Mamdani – an avowed socialist – beat establishment Democrat Andrew Cuomo in a New York City primary landslide last November, then defeated Republican Curtis Sliwa in the general with the highest municipal turnout since 1969.

He took office January 1 as the first openly socialist mayor in the city's 400-year history, promising to run it "expansively and audaciously" under a socialist agenda.

The largest city in America is now his proving ground.

The movement that put him in City Hall knocked out three sitting Democrat House members in 2026 primaries and just secured the Democrat Senate nomination in Michigan, where avowed socialist Abdul El-Sayed knocked off the Democrat establishment’s pick.

In New York City alone, DSA is fielding officially endorsed candidates in more than a dozen state Assembly, Senate, and congressional races this cycle.

Fifteen moderate House Democrats got so alarmed they signed an open letter declaring they "are capitalist, not socialist" and want "safety, not lawlessness."

Sitting members of Congress had to issue a written statement clarifying they are not communists.

Schumer, Jeffries, and Pelosi have stayed silent – counting on the socialist wave to run out of gas before it costs them the majority.

Manchin Explained Exactly How the DSA Turns a Democratic House Majority Into a Socialist One

If Democrats flip the House Tuesday, the seats doing the flipping won't come from hard-blue districts – those already belong to the DSA.

The flips come from purple areas – candidates who sound moderate enough to win competitive seats, then caucus with AOC and Mamdani's movement once they reach Washington and vote hard-left on everything that matters.

The Senate is the other half of this calculation.

Manchin rooted for Republicans to hold the Senate specifically because he knew Democrats would immediately move to eliminate the filibuster – the 60-vote threshold he called "the last guardrail preventing total partisan rule."

He accused Schumer of pushing to gut it not because he believed it was right, but to "broadcast loyalty to the radical left" and satisfy his "only priority" of holding power.

A House run by DSA-adjacent Democrats is one problem.

A Senate without the filibuster is how the whole thing comes apart at once.

James Carville – the man who ran Clinton's campaigns – publicly admitted this month he would rather Republicans keep the House than hand Democrats a majority the DSA would immediately hold hostage.

When Carville is publicly rooting for Republicans and Manchin has already left the party, it's not a warning anymore – it's a verdict.

The Democrat Party Manchin joined decades ago – the one that won West Virginia, ran blue-collar candidates, and believed in America – is gone.

The party that replaced it can't even bring itself to say so.
