The left-wing media spent years calling Byron Donalds an extremist.
On Bill Maher's show, an MS NOW contributor tried to set a trap – and walked right into one instead.
What happened next left even Maher's liberal Hollywood audience applauding.
Molly Jong-Fast Came After Donalds on the Measles Outbreak and the MMR Vaccine Schedule
MS NOW contributor Molly Jong-Fast arrived on Real Time with Bill Maher ready for a kill shot. She had her talking points, her righteous indignation, and a question she clearly thought would expose Byron Donalds as some kind of anti-vaccine radical.
"I have three kids. You have three kids. Do you not vaccinate your kids?"
Donalds didn't flinch. He laid out a factual, calm, generational breakdown of how the childhood vaccination schedule has expanded dramatically over decades – his 23-year-old son received fewer vaccines than his 15-year-old, and his own childhood schedule was nothing like what newborns face today.
He defended the Trump White House executive order signed August 10 that calls for spacing out doses and restoring informed consent to parents.
"I think there are parents, there are mothers who have real concerns about the frequency of vaccines for young infants," Donalds said. "Let parents have an ability to make those decisions for their children with informed consent."
Maher, whose audience leans Left, said that there wasn’t anything wrong with that.
What Donalds Said About Illegal Immigration and Measles That She Could Not Answer
Jong-Fast then pivoted to measles, claiming two people in Ohio died from the disease and demanding Donalds answer for his earlier CBS News interview, where he attributed the outbreak to illegal immigration.
Donalds corrected the record without breaking a sweat.
"Under the previous administration, more than 10 million people came into the country illegally," he said, "and I know for a fact, just like everybody else – you can read your notes too – they weren't checking their vaccination schedules coming into the United States."
He didn't stop there. Donalds named specific outbreaks: measles cases inside border detention facilities, an outbreak in El Paso, Texas, and another at an illegal alien facility in Chicago. Those aren't talking points – those are documented events.
Court records and contemporaneous news coverage confirmed measles broke out at Camp East Montana, one of the largest ICE detention facilities in the country, on the Fort Bliss Army base near El Paso, with at least 14 confirmed cases and 112 people placed in isolation.
Separate outbreaks were recorded at the Florence, Arizona detention center in early 2026, and at a South Texas family residential center in Dilley, Texas.

Jong-Fast's Ohio claim also contained an error. The deaths she cited occurred in Pennsylvania, not Ohio.
And according to the Lancaster County Coroner, at least one of the infants died of a ruptured spleen – not measles – despite testing positive for the virus.
Byron Donalds Won the Florida Governor Primary and Now the Vaccine Fight Follows Him to November
Byron Donalds won Florida's Republican gubernatorial primary on August 19 with roughly 49 percent of the vote – the Associated Press called the race the moment polls closed. He now faces Democrat David Jolly, a former Republican congressman turned Trump critic, in the November general election.
The August 10 White House executive order Donalds referenced directs the administration to develop a gold-standard childhood vaccine schedule, recommending the combined MMR shot be separated into three individual doses and that all childhood immunizations be administered at separate visits.
President Trump signed it in the Oval Office, with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. present.
The Left called it anti-science. What it actually is: a recognition that the parents who watched their kids receive five injections in a single visit – and quietly asked the pediatrician whether that was really necessary – deserved a straight answer instead of a lecture.
Those grandparents were right to ask. That night, a future Florida governor said so on national television. The MSNBC contributor who tried to make that a scandal left looking like the one who didn't do her homework.
