Taylor Swift’s drama is now on the radar of football fans.
And now this jaw-dropping controversy involving Taylor Swift and Patrick Mahomes has the rumor mill working overtime.
The NFL benefited greatly from pop star Taylor Swift’s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, as she attended several Kansas City Chiefs games in 2023, generating an increase in TV viewership and social media engagement thanks to her rabid fan base’s obsession with fawning over every move she makes.
But now Swift and the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes are embroiled in controversy.
Taylor and Brittany?
The scuttlebutt in celebrity gossip circles is that Brittany Mahomes has fallen out of favor with Swift after the two were seen gal-palling around at Chiefs games at the outset of her relationship with Kelce.
Supposedly, a rift opened up after the Mahomes signed endorsement deals with Skims underwear, which is owned by one of the pop star’s biggest enemies, Kim Kardashian.
Yes, an underwear brand has started a turf war.
The Daily Mail reported that “first signs of trouble in pal paradise came with Mahomes’s appearance in an advertisement for Kim Kardashian’s underwear brand, Skims. Posing alongside Patrick and their two children in cozy Christmas pajamas, Brittany shared the promotional pictures to her personal Instagram last November, saying: ‘The holidays start with Skims.’”
Supposedly, Mahomes did not know that Swift and Kardashian have been engaged in a long-running feud, even though it’s one of the more well-known feuds in pop culture.
Swift even included a diss track about Kardashian on her recently released album, The Tortured Poets Department.
According to the report, Kardashian went out of her way to recruit friends and others close to Swift to endorse her products just to get under the pop star’s skin.
A source told The Daily Mail that Mahomes’s actions “truly showed how loyal she is to her friends. And Brittany chose money over friendship, which says a lot.”
The source added that Mahomes is simply “acting like Taylor’s BFF [best friend forever]” because she is “desperate” for the limelight and wants to be known as more than “a trophy wife to an NFL star.”
Another source said, “She has tried so hard to insert herself into Swift’s circle. She has wanted to be relevant for so long and finally found her in. . . She has too many red flags and people are starting to see through her fake and b**chy persona. . . She is an opportunist who is clearly not a girl’s girl.”
Yikes.
Digging up dirt
Apparently, Swift’s rabid fan base, known as “Swifties,” dug up old social media posts from 2012 when Mahomes was still in high school and criticized her music.
“Taylor Swift, I wanna know when you’re gonna find something different to write about besides boys and relationships,” Mahomes wrote at the time.
And just like that, Brittany Mahomes blew her one and only chance to be friends with one of the most famous humans on the planet.
