Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is taking off the gloves.
Joe Biden went too far this time.
And Ron DeSantis put Joe Biden on notice with one major lawsuit.
Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) doesn’t back down from taking on President Joe Biden’s out-of-control regime.
Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, the state of Florida has frequently taken the Biden regime to court to curb Biden’s worst abuses of power.
Once again, DeSantis is headed for a major legal showdown with the Biden regime over the issue of prescription drugs.
In 2019, Governor DeSantis signed into law a bill that would allow Florida to import cheaper prescription drugs from Canada.
Federal officials at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) needed to sign off the plan for it to go into effect.
Florida became the first state in the country to apply with the federal government to implement the program in November 2020.
For over 630 days, the state has waited for the plan to be approved by FDA while Biden regime officials drag their feet.
President Joe Biden himself has claimed to be in favor of importing prescription drugs from Canada as a way to lower prices.
But this is another case of the Biden regime targeting Florida and DeSantis with a blatantly politically-motivated delay in approving the state’s application.
“This has been sitting on someone’s desk for 600 days,” Simone Marstiller, Secretary for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, said. “This is not what government is supposed to do.”
Now, Ron DeSantis is hitting the FDA with a new lawsuit, saying the agency is “dragging its feet” and “protecting big pharmaceutical companies.”
The plan could save Floridians up to $150 million annually in lower prescription costs, with medications roughly 75% cheaper.
“Florida has been ready to deliver cheaper prescription drugs to those that need them for nearly two years,” DeSantis said. “After 630 days, you know, we still sit here waiting for an answer. And so it’s our view that we’ve waited long enough.”
“We have a right to know what the FDA has been doing the last two years,” DeSantis explained. “Are they putting politics over patients? Are they putting the interest of Big Pharma over the interest of average Floridians?”
Florida’s lawsuit is asking a federal judge to order the FDA to approve the state’s application.
“The lack of transparency by the Biden administration during the approval process, and failure to provide records on the importation proposal, is costing Floridians who are facing rising prices across the board due to inflation,” the Governor continued. “Florida is confident in our importation model, and we continue to look for more ways to lower drug costs for Floridians while the FDA delays approval of this importation proposal.”
Joe Biden’s petty vendetta against Ron DeSantis is hurting Floridians of all political persuasions who are struggling with the high cost of prescription drugs.
