The Democrats spent a decade telling America they were the adults in the room.
Now one of their most powerful veterans is admitting, on tape, that they blew it – and his own party is furious at him for saying it.
Rahm Emanuel just told Katie Couric exactly why Americans despise the Democratic Party, and the words came straight from the man who ran Obama's White House.
Defund the Police, Open Borders, Latinx: Emanuel's Indictment of His Own Party
Rahm Emanuel – Obama's former White House chief of staff, ex-Chicago mayor, and long-shot 2028 presidential hopeful who has spent the last year calling out his own party's excesses
He sat down with Katie Couric this week and said what most Democrats still refuse to admit.
When Couric asked why Americans feel so negatively about the Democratic Party, Emanuel didn't spin it.
"Because we EARNED their disrespect, the hard way!" he said.
He said his party did things that were "really ridiculous."
Three examples: open borders, defunding the police, and forcing the word "Latinx" on Hispanic voters who never asked for it.
That last one landed like a grenade.
No Hispanic voter in America ever called themselves "Latinx" – yet Socialist Democrats kept jamming the term into legislation, speeches, and press releases as though working-class Hispanic families cared more about left-wing activist linguistics than their paychecks.
They did not.
Hispanic voters who backed Democrats for decades shifted hard toward Trump in 2024.
The Democrat Party stopped talking to voters and started lecturing them.
The DNC Autopsy Rahm Emanuel Just Called Worse Than Useless
Emanuel went after his party's effort to understand why they got demolished in 2024 – and he didn't stop at policy failures.
The party's handling of Joe Biden was "worse than feckless," he said – Biden's staff, his cabinet, and Jill Biden herself all had a responsibility to tell a declining president his time was up, and every one of them failed.
As for the DNC's official attempt to figure out what went wrong, a post election autopsy, Emanuel joked that a literal coroner produces more thorough work.
Nobody did.
They propped Biden up until the last possible moment, handed Kamala Harris a 107-day campaign, and blamed the voters for not going along with it.
The autopsy took months to produce, involved almost no interviews with key campaign decision-makers, and was so embarrassing the DNC chair tried to bury it – until he was confronted about it at a Grindr-sponsored party the night before the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
Why the Democrat Civil War Hands Republicans the 2026 Midterms
Emanuel has been saying versions of this for over a year.
He warned Democrats about transgender politics last year and got denounced by radical activists for it.
And he told NPR in January 2026 that Democrats needed to reconnect with working-class voters – the hard-left wing ignored him.
Now Emanuel is eyeing a 2028 presidential run, calling the Democrat brand "toxic," and making the rounds on friendly media to position himself as the sane alternative.
Meanwhile, the same radical machine he is warning against just spent $64 million in primary battles across the country.
Bernie Sanders and AOC are running a parallel party inside the Democrat Party, backing hard-left challengers against moderate incumbents in every competitive state.
The so-called moderates are losing ground and the people burning the room down are the ones setting the 2026 agenda.
Republicans should want exactly that.
Every Senate seat, every House race where Democrats run a Graham Platner instead of someone who can win a swing district is an opportunity they are handing over without a fight.
When Obama's own enforcer goes on camera and says his party earned America's contempt, Republicans don't need attack ads.
Democrats are writing them for free.
