Inside Barron Trump's Reclusive Life at 20 Years Old
Two sources close to the Trump family told the New York Post the same thing independently: Barron "doesn't go out." The second put it more bluntly: "The kid's pretty reclusive."
His sophomore year at New York University wrapped up in the spring. He has spent much of the summer with his mother, first lady Melania Trump, at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. Those are the parameters of his life right now.
At 6'9", Barron Trump cannot blend into any crowd. He has his own suite at Mar-a-Lago, his own floor at Trump Tower, and a custom-built bedroom at the White House – fitted to his frame by the on-site carpentry shop. Wherever he arrives, he moves quickly to private spaces.
"You don't see him hanging around," one source in the first family's orbit told the Post.
The older Trump children – Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka – all maintain public profiles, show up at events, and appear regularly alongside their father. Barron has built the opposite.
He launched a herbal energy drink company with high school friends and invested in cryptocurrency – staying behind the scenes on both, unlike his niece Kai, who actively promotes her merchandise online.
On Jake Paul's podcast, Kai described her uncle: "He doesn't like the public eye so much, which I understand."
His last public appearance was in July – the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium, watched from behind bulletproof glass.
Iran Put a 10 Million Dollar Bounty on Barron Trump After Charlie Kirk Was Assassinated
Iranian state media – linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – aired a video this week opening with the banner "Where to kill Barron Trump?!" It mapped his NYU campus location, his escort vehicle configurations, and his Secret Service positions, claiming his movements are "fully monitored." The broadcast placed a $10 million bounty on his killing.
The Secret Service confirmed it is aware of the video and is investigating.
Barron was close to Charlie Kirk. When a sniper killed Kirk at Utah Valley University last September, Barron broke the news to his father. The exchange first appeared in Regime Change by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, and was confirmed by the Post. Barron's words to the president:
"This is what happens when you go out there."
President Trump has survived at least three assassination attempts since July 2024 – shot and wounded at a Pennsylvania rally, stalked by a gunman at his West Palm Beach golf course, and rushed from the stage at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in April when Cole Tomas Allen stormed the event armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives. Melania was there that night as well.
A similar IRGC-linked video last month tracked Melania Trump's movements through New York and identified what Iran described as vulnerabilities in her security. Iran is fighting a war with the United States – one that began with the killing of Supreme Leader Khamenei in February.
Iranian state commentators have argued openly that Khamenei's death created a religious obligation to kill those responsible.
Melania captured what life looks like for her son in her self-titled documentary: "I know Barron won't go out. And I respect that." The Office of the First Lady separately asked the Post to exclude "any details concerning his private life" from coverage, citing recent threats.
Barron Trump is a 20-year-old college student running a startup.
Iran broadcast his Secret Service positions on state television this week. A sniper killed his friend on a college campus less than a year ago. His father has survived at least three assassination attempts.
The kid's pretty reclusive. Given what has been done to his family, that is the only rational response left.
