Kamala Harris’ political future just grew more uncertain.
Democrats are realizing Joe Biden made a mistake in picking Harris as his running mate.
And Bernie Sanders hit Kamala Harris with some bad news that she never saw coming.
Bernie Sanders 2020 Presidential Campaign Manager Faiz Shakir sent shockwaves through Washington, D.C. with a memo stating Sanders’ openness to a 2024 presidential bid if Joe Biden did not seek a second term.
The Washington Post reported:
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is open to running for president in 2024 if President Biden declines to seek reelection, according to a campaign memo a top political adviser distributed to allies on Wednesday that was shared with The Washington Post.
“In the event of an open 2024 Democratic presidential primary, Sen. Sanders has not ruled out another run for president, so we advise that you answer any questions about 2024 with that in mind,” says the memo from Faiz Shakir, a close Sanders adviser who was his campaign manager when he ran in 2020.
The memo was shared by a person with direct knowledge of its contents on the condition of anonymity because it was not released publicly, and confirmed by a second person with direct knowledge of the contents.
In an interview with Meet the Press Daily host Chuck Todd, Shakir stated that a primary challenge to Joe Biden was “off the table.”
But when Todd asked if Sanders would show the same deference to Kamala Harris in a hypothetical 2024 primary, Shakir declined to say Sanders would not challenge Harris.
“No, he respects Senator Harris,” Shakir stated.
However, Shakir told Todd that if Joe Biden does not run for re-election then Sanders will make his decision based on how Sanders viewed Harris – or any of the other contenders – platform and ideological commitment to socialism.
“The question on Vice President Harris if she were to run, or anybody, is to just say, what are you going to run for? What’s your agenda going to be? And then Sen. Sanders would make his determination and judgment at that point,” Shakir stated.
12 aides left Harris’ office in the last 15 months.
Polls show Harris is even more unpopular than Joe Biden.
No one in the Democrat Party respects or fears Harris as a Presidential contender.
And Bernie Sanders’ top advisor just fired the latest shot across Harris’ bow.
