Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez entered Congress in 2019 as one of the rising stars in the Democrat Party.
But is Ocasio-Cortez’s time in the House of Representatives coming to an end?
Now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could leave Congress for one reason no one ever imagined.
A CNN poll found 75% of Americans do not want President Joe Biden to run for re-election.
Meanwhile, a New York Times/Siena poll showed 64% of Democrats want the Party to have a different nominee in 2024.
Democrat Party strategist Michael Starr Hopkins recently argued in an op-ed published in The Hill that Democrats’ best chance to retain the White House in two years is to nominate Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for President.
Hopkins claimed that Democrats needed a movement candidate to defeat Republicans and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was the only leftist who could mass mobilize the base to turnout.
“She’s the voice of a movement that began after the banks were bailed out by the government, while homeowners were left to default,” Hopkins declared. “The simplicity with which she talks about everyday struggles hints that she’s not just a persona for consumption. She isn’t beholden to corporations, is a prodigious small-dollar fundraiser, and could out-Trump Trump like no other politician has been able to.”
Hopkins also claimed Ocasio-Cortez’s youth – she’ll turn 35-years-old in October 2024, satisfying the Constitution’s minimum age requirement to serve as President – stands in stark contrast to the aging Democrat Party leadership.
“Ocasio-Cortez represents the possibilities and opportunities that make our country great,” Hopkins claimed. “Where else could a 29-year-old bartender upset a political heavyweight and become a symbol for her generation? AOC was never supposed to win her race. Few gave her a chance, but a funny thing happened: Voters loved her honesty, youth and humble beginnings.”
“Voters were sick of career politicians who rarely came back to their districts,” he continued. “So they voted Joe Crowley out and AOC in. That wasn’t luck, that was fate. In a Democratic Party that looks more like a Golden Girls spin-off than a reflection of our rich diversity, AOC has become the face of a generation.”
Finally, Hopkins claimed Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was the only Democrat with the social media magic to match up against Donald Trump in 2024.
“In the age of social media and quick sound bites, no Democrat is more prepared to embarrass a bully like Donald Trump,” Hopkins stated. “She’s the voice of a movement that began after the banks were bailed out by the government, while homeowners were left to default.”
But Hopkins couldn’t be more wrong.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ youth, support for socialism, and annoying social media presence are why the American people would view her as unelectable – not the opposite.
