ICE Just Got Military-Grade Robot Dogs and Cartels Have No Idea What Is Coming

Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill and handed ICE $75 billion to upgrade everything.

Now the bad guys are seeing what that money buys.

And ICE just gave their first major purchase a name that tells cartels exactly what's coming.

Inside the Boston Dynamics Robot Dog ICE Is Sending Into Cartel Tunnels

Under a $1.3 million contract signed last week, ICE is acquiring four military-grade robot dogs from Radeco, a Connecticut company that customizes Boston Dynamics machines for law enforcement and military tactical teams.

ICE named them Cerberus – after the three-headed dog that guards the gates of hell in Greek mythology.

The Cerberus unit carries a robotic arm, thermal camera, and sensors capable of detecting explosives, radiation, toxic gas leaks, and chemical or biological threats.

It can operate in complete darkness, read heat signatures through walls, and survey confined spaces while agents stay safely out of range.

ICE officers can control Cerberus from up to 900 miles away.

That means an agent in Phoenix can send Cerberus into a drug tunnel in Nogales, get a full tactical picture, and never once put boots in that darkness.

"It can provide real-time situational awareness in hazardous, confined, or tactically uncertain environments," an ICE spokesperson told The Daily Wire.

Scott Mechkowski spent years as ICE's New York field office deputy director and knows exactly how this equipment gets used.

"ICE is buying a tool to look before you go in," Mechkowski said.

"In my experience, equipment like this usually sits with the tactical teams, not with officers on routine arrests, and the deployment decision is made at a supervisory level or in accordance with the agency's guidelines."

The robot also carries audio sensors that alert agents to a person's presence inside the space, plus a two-way radio so agents can talk down whoever is inside before anyone enters.

Homeland Security sources told The Daily Wire that Cerberus is likely to operate with Homeland Security Investigations agents and tactical units.

ICE previously spent $78,000 on a similar machine from Canadian manufacturer Icor Technology.

The Cerberus is different – a purpose-built, military-hardened machine designed for the high-threat environments where cartels operate.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Just Turned ICE Into a High-Tech Border Security Force

The One Big Beautiful Bill designated $29.9 billion specifically for ICE technology, personnel, and enforcement operations – the Cerberus purchase is what that looks like in practice.

The contract is directly tied to the Subterranean Border Defense Act, the law targeting the underground smuggling infrastructure cartels have spent years constructing beneath the southern border.

It also cites Executive Order 14159 – Trump's order titled "Protecting the American People Against Invasion."

ICE confirmed the robots will be deployed against cartels, human smuggling networks, and trafficking operations across the United States.

Cartel tunnels gave smugglers a tactical advantage for years.

ICE agents entering a tunnel had no idea what waited on the other side.

Cerberus goes first.

The robot's five-foot arm attachment can see on top of closets, bunk beds, and some crawl spaces – every spot where a cartel lookout or booby trap hides.

It feeds real-time data back through CBRN sensors – chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threat detection – while the agent stays topside.

The contract specifically notes that Cerberus is the sole product of its kind manufactured by Radeco, which carries "significant past performance working with law enforcement and military tactical teams."

More than sixty bomb squads and SWAT teams across the United States and Canada already use a version of this technology to handle hostage situations and hazardous material incidents.

ICE's Cerberus goes further – a threat-detection system built specifically for the cartel battlefield.

The cartels designed their tunnel network to put American agents in the dark and in tight spaces.

Trump bought a machine that strips that advantage entirely – scanning for radiation and chemical weapons while it maps every inch of the tunnel in real time from 900 miles away.

The cartels spent years building underground because they calculated Americans would never follow them in.

They were wrong.
