Kamala Harris spent 2020 telling America that questioning elections was a threat to democracy.
Six years later, she is back on the campaign trail with a new target.
Kamala Harris invented a new definition of cheating on a left-wing podcast.
Harris Declares War on the SAVE America Act
Kamala Harris appeared on woke former soccer player Megan Rapinoe's podcast Why Are You Like This? this week and announced that requiring Americans to prove they are citizens before voting is "cheating."
"We have to win these midterms," Harris told Rapinoe. "These folks are cheating. They're redrawing lines. They're trying to make it more difficult for people to vote so they won't vote because they are afraid of the power of the people."
What she called "cheating" is the SAVE America Act – legislation passed by the House in February 2026 that requires documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
A driver's license, a birth certificate, or a passport – the same documents Americans produce to board a plane, open a bank account, or start a new job.
Harris called that an attack on democracy.
The RNC's election integrity communications director, Ally Triolo, responded immediately.
"If Kamala Harris is upset Republicans are going after the illegals and fraudsters trying to vote, it makes you wonder if she's taking crazy pills again," Triolo told Fox News Digital. "Voter ID and proof of citizenship are common sense, but Democrats can't win elections without cheating the system."
Voter ID Has 80 Percent Support and Harris Can't Explain Why
Democrats on November ballots should have seen this number coming.
Eighty percent of Americans support requiring a photo ID to vote – including a majority of Democrats, 76 percent of black Americans, and 82 percent of Hispanic Americans.
Congresswoman Kat Cammack, a Florida Republican who co-sponsored the SAVE America Act, said in February: "Proof of citizenship, voter ID, and common-sense limits on mail-in ballots. That's not extreme, it's responsible. If Democrats are blocking it, Americans should ask why."
Americans are asking.
Harris has now accused Republicans of cheating three times this campaign season. She made the same claim at the National Urban League conference in July, telling supporters Democrats must be "ruthless" and turn out in numbers "too big to rig."
Before that, in August, she posted a video warning that Trump's mail-ballot policies amounted to election rigging – while ignoring that Trump himself votes by mail from Mar-a-Lago.
Kamala Harris Is Handing Republicans the 2026 Midterms
Democrats running in competitive House and Senate seats did not need this.
Harris has spent 2026 as the most visible face of the Democrat Party's election messaging – a party that, according to Harvard CAPS / Harris Poll data from April, 65 percent of voters already believe opposes voter ID requirements.
Those voters aren't wrong.
She also told Rapinoe she has no idea how to "live without serving" and that the midterms are consuming her full attention.
Younger Democrat candidates have made clear they'd prefer she direct that attention elsewhere.
After every Harris appearance this cycle, campaign staffers in swing districts have quietly updated their call-screening instructions.
She keeps calling anyway.
Harris is not alone in letting the mask slip.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told reporters in March that "Democrats support voter ID" – then led every Senate Democrat to vote against a Republican photo ID bill months later.
Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin went further. Speaking to Indiana Democrats in June, Slotkin explained why the SAVE Act had to be stopped: "It would be hard for any Democrat in any state to win any election."
The White House responded with one sentence. "If securing America's elections – through commonsense measures like voter ID and proof of citizenship – will make it impossible for Democrats to win elections, perhaps they should reconsider the methods they're using to 'win.'"
The SAVE America Act passed the House 220-208. It has been stalled in the Senate ever since, blocked by Democrats who refuse to provide the 60 votes needed to advance it.
What they are actually doing is handing Republicans the perfect closing argument: Democrats are fighting to keep proof of citizenship out of American elections, and three of their most prominent voices just told you why.
They are afraid of what happens when only citizens vote.
