Why Maria Bartiromo Was Really Fired From Fox News
On July 16, President Trump delivered a rare primetime address laying out communist China's ability to interfere in American elections.
Fox News aired the speech live – then quietly ordered its own anchors to act like it never happened.
Maria Bartiromo had Peter Navarro booked for her Fox Business morning show the very next day to break down what Trump said and what it meant.
Before that segment could air, Ralph Giordano – Fox Business Network's senior vice president of programming – texted her producers with instructions.
Navarro published Giordano's exact words in his Washington Times op-ed: "Hi – We don't want to promote it or push to the speech at all. We don't want to do 2020 election segments at all Thurs or Friday."
A senior Fox executive killed coverage of a presidential address – in writing – and told no one outside the building.
Bartiromo forwarded the screenshot to Navarro to show she was being blocked, not blowing him off.
Navarro passed it to senior White House officials.
The West Wing called Fox's leadership to complain – and that call told Fox exactly who had leaked the memo.
Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott was furious.
The network benched Bartiromo quietly in August, then announced September 3 it was parting ways with her, describing a 12-year career ending as a routine "business decision."

Navarro did not accept the polite fiction Fox was trying to sell.
He went on Newsmax's Greg Kelly Reports and said out loud what MAGA viewers have suspected for years.
"Forget about anybody thinking that Fox is a conservative network that's friendly to MAGA, friendly to Trump," he told Kelly.
He named Suzanne Scott as the executive who decides which MAGA topics make air and which ones get killed before cameras roll.
The system Navarro described is not accidental – it is deliberate and profitable.
Scott runs a pressure valve. She lets anchors fight the fights her advertisers can tolerate – and cuts the feed the moment a host gets near anything that costs the network money or legal exposure.
Navarro wrote that MAGA stories get buried before they ever reach a camera, killed in the rundown at the producer level where viewers never see the decision being made.
According to PJ Media, when Bartiromo renegotiated her Fox contract in 2025, she specifically won language blocking Giordano from interfering with her show.
He kept interfering anyway – and Scott looked the other way until the West Wing called.
How Fox News Fired Tucker Carlson Lou Dobbs and Maria Bartiromo
Lou Dobbs was running the highest-rated show on Fox Business when Scott fired him in February 2021 – one day after Smartmatic filed its defamation lawsuit.
Tucker Carlson had the top-rated show in the entire Fox News lineup when Scott cut him loose in April 2023 – days after Fox finalized its $787.5 million Dominion settlement.
Bartiromo's Sunday Morning Futures was beating Meet the Press and Face the Nation every single week when Scott announced her departure September 3.
Navarro wrote that Fox's shadow ban extends well beyond Bartiromo – blocking Trump surrogates including Don Jr., Laura Loomer, John Solomon, and Rudy Giuliani from Fox airtime at Scott's direction.
Kash Patel was on that same list before Trump made him FBI director.
Scott is not suppressing random voices. She is suppressing the people closest to the president of the United States – during a midterm election year.
Trump responded on Truth Social the night of Bartiromo's ouster: "Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior. Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy."
Fox called it a business decision.
Navarro called it a purge – and the memo he published proves Fox management wrote the order down, texted it to producers, and put their name on it.
