Hakeem Jeffries just watched socialists destroy two of his own endorsed incumbents in a single night.
Now the man who wants to be House Speaker just sided with the people who took out his candidates.
What Greg Gutfeld said explains exactly why Jeffries cannot stop what is coming.
NYC Primary Results 2026 Handed the Democrat Party to the DSA
Three Democrat congressional incumbents lost their seats to candidates backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani – a Democrat Socialist – last Tuesday.
Rep. Dan Goldman, whom Jeffries personally endorsed, was routed in New York's 10th District.
Rep. Adriano Espaillat, a five-term incumbent and chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, lost to 32-year-old community organizer Darializa Avila Chevalier – a woman who has called for abolishing prisons, abolishing ICE, and called America a "f—ing disgrace."
She is now the Democrat nominee for a seat in the United States Congress.
The winners were not ordinary left-wingers. All three are Democrat Socialists of America members, an organization that now claims 100,000 members nationally and just notched more than a dozen primary wins across New York in a single night.
When Hakeem Jeffries appeared on screen at one of the victory parties, the crowd booed and chanted "You're next."
By Saturday, Jeffries had officially congratulated the nominees. "From public servants to union organizers to community activists, the path is different but the work is the same," he posted.
The Republican Jewish Coalition had a sharper read. "To Jewish Democrats: your party is telling you EXACTLY who it is."
What Greg Gutfeld Got Right on The Five That Jeffries Still Will Not Say
Greg Gutfeld laid out the mechanism on The Five that Jeffries refuses to acknowledge.
"The Left owns the soft power, which is the media, the schools, and the arts," Gutfeld said. "So it's like Doritos. You know, we crush them, they make more of them…"
Socialists do not win because their ideas work. They win because they have spent 40 years controlling every institution that shapes how young people think – and the Democrat establishment funded all of it.
Gutfeld then named the fatal mistake establishment Democrats keep making.
"The Dems saw them as just other Democrats," he said. "They thought it was nonsense and it wouldn't get anywhere. They'll fall into line just like Bernie did, but they're not."
Goldman thought the same thing. Espaillat thought so too. Both are now former congressmen.
Democratic Socialists of America Have Run This Playbook Before
American socialists have taken runs at the Democrat Party from inside before. DSA's predecessor organizations grew out of the 1960s New Left and campus networks. For decades the strategy was identical: enter the Democrat tent, move it Left, wait.
What is new is the scale of the infrastructure and the speed of the wins. DSA had roughly 6,000 members in 2015. It hit 100,000 in 2026.
Mamdani won New York City's mayoral race last year mobilizing 50,000 volunteers and his endorsed candidates just swept three congressional seats in a single night despite opposition super PACs spending more than $8 million to stop them.
Chevalier and Valdez have not committed to backing Jeffries as House Speaker. NYC-DSA co-chair Grace Mausser told reporters last week the organization is already "surrounding" Jeffries in his home district and has not ruled out a primary challenge in 2028.
He congratulated them anyway.
What the Socialist Sweep Means for the 2026 Midterms
"It's not third world," Gutfeld said. "It's white elite intelligentsia, the 7%, who, as history has shown, they will call you fascist, but then when they get into power, oh, man, are they bloodthirsty."
Gutfeld nailed the source and the danger – but the people who need to hear it are not in Brooklyn.
Democrats are running to retake the House in November. The candidates heading into competitive swing districts will be tagged to Chevalier's calls to abolish prisons and Valdez's support for seizing private property.
The National Republican Congressional Committee called it the day the results came in: the Democrat Party "officially belongs to the socialists."
Jeffries knows what his caucus looks like if Democrats take the House. He is going to Speaker with members who have openly promised to remove him and who despise the voters he depends on – and he congratulated them anyway, because the alternative was worse: admitting that the party he leads no longer exists in any form he can actually control.
That is the thing Gutfeld said that no one in Democrat leadership will answer: "They're not hiding this behind helping the poor. They're just saying, we want power. These are wolves in wolves' clothing."
Jeffries posted that "the path is different but the work is the same." He knows exactly what the work is.
