Whether some people agree or not, the reality is that two things can be true at the same time.

People can agree that murder is wrong, and they can also agree that health insurance companies are greedy scams that exploit Americans when they’re at their most vulnerable.

And now UnitedHealth’s CEO made one post-assassination statement behind closed doors that will make your blood boil.

CEO secretly boasts about record profits post-assassination

UnitedHealth Group, the parent company of UnitedHealthcare, is poised to smash financial records this year, even as the industry faces serious scrutiny.

The company’s CEO, Andrew Witty, has been discreetly informing executives that the company will see record figures by the end of the year, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.

Those massive profits come even after the company faces major backlash following the death of now-former UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in early December.

In a December 23 video for workers, Witty said, “The environment we find ourselves in is a complex one, not one that was ever designed by anybody.”

UnitedHealth Group saw a revenue of over $299 billion through September, a record high that is up from $277 billion last year.

The company has been in the national spotlight after 26-year-old Luigi Mangione allegedly shot and killed Thompson in Manhattan.

Mangione has pleaded not guilty and denies any wrongdoing as he faces state and federal charges tied to the killing.

The alleged murderer was also found with a manifesto-type document that included rantings about the health insurance industry in America.

Meanwhile, the murder of Thompson has prompted some people to cheer Mangione on or rationalize the killing because of Thompson’s stature at the company.

At one point, a Facebook post from UnitedHealthcare regarding the death of Thompson went viral when it received well over 71,000 laughing emojis online.

Things got so bad that the company stopped allowing people to make comments on the post.

UnitedHealth Group leaders have reportedly told workers they can stay home if they don’t feel safe coming to work, and armed security has been posted at the company’s headquarters in Minnesota, according to a source familiar with the company.

Profits increase while Americans suffer

Witty’s announcement to workers about the company’s record profits might be great for shareholders, but it’s not exactly a happy thought for most average Americans.

UnitedHealth Group has a market capitalization of approximately $465 billion and insures over 50 million people.

They have been scouring the internet to look for threatening messages including any photos of executives, said one person familiar with the company.

Some messages have already been sent threatening workers and higher-ups, and the company has now asked media news outlets to blur pictures of “wanted posters” showing executives’ faces.

The company also asked social media apps to remove any posts they consider threatening, the report said.

Witty took over the company in 2021 and is now trying to keep his employees calm.

“Right now, people continue to have strong feelings inside the organization, maybe nervous, maybe anxious, maybe worried about security,” Witty said during the video call.

As the company rakes in billions of dollars, concerns about UnitedHealth and other insurers over rising medical costs continue to increase as well.

It’s easy to see why some Americans are angry over the fact that UnitedHealth has now hit an all-time high when it comes to profit.
