Reverend Franklin Graham is one of the most influential Christian leaders in the world.

He’s continuing the legacy of his father, the late evangelist Billy Graham.

And Franklin Graham made one big announcement that Democrats are going to hate.

Billy Graham to receive a statue at the U.S. Capitol

The United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., features a chamber known as the National Statuary Hall to honor prominent Americans in history.

Every state receives two statues to commemorate people who are deceased.

The North Carolina General Assembly voted in 2015 to remove the statue of former North Carolina Democrat Governor – and prominent racist segregationist – Charles Aycock from the National Statuary Hall, replacing him with one of the late evangelists, Reverend Billy Graham.

Graham, who passed away in 2018, made it his life’s work to share the Gospel with as many people as possible.

He was a spiritual advisor to 13 Presidents from both major political parties and is regarded as one of the most influential Christians in modern history.

The placement of the late evangelist’s statue at the Capitol was delayed for years while waiting on the approval of a committee with the Library of Congress.

Now, they’ve given the green light for the statue of Graham to take its place in the National Statuary Hall, according to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, a group led by his son, Reverand Franklin Graham.

“It’s a rare honor,” the group wrote in a statement.

A 7-foot-tall statue of the evangelist will be placed in the building with two Bible verses on its base.

The verses “highlight Graham’s lifelong commitment to sharing the Gospel,” according to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

They are John 3:16 – which reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” – and John 14:6 – which reads, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Franklin Graham and others react to the new Billy Graham statue

Franklin Graham told Fox News that the new statue of his late father would honor the message he preached.

“This isn’t just a statue of my father — it represents the One that he surrendered his life to and the message that he preached for more than 80 years, that God loves us and He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins,” Graham said. “What I appreciate most is that this is an opportunity for everyone in future generations who see the statue to be reminded of God’s love, grace, and forgiveness.”

Graham and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (RINO-LA) will speak at the unveiling ceremony of the statue.

“This is a great honor, and my father would be humbled and grateful,” Graham said. “At the same time, he would not want the attention on himself but on God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Billy Graham made an impact on millions of lives for the better, and he will now be honored for his incredible work.
