DSA Co-Chair Confirms Plan to Abolish Senate ICE and Prisons
The Democratic Socialist of America's national co-chair Megan Romer sat down with Shannon Bream on Fox News Sunday.
Bream ran through the DSA platform like a true-or-false quiz.
Abolish the Senate? "True."
Replace the presidency and Supreme Court as we know them? "Absolutely."
Abolish ICE? "Absolutely."
Abolish borders and give amnesty to everyone in the country illegally? "As a long-term plan, yep."
Defund the Pentagon? "Absolutely."
Abolish prisons? Absolutely – as part of a "long-term program."
Government ownership of most large corporations? "Yeah, absolutely."
Romer smiled through the entire exchange and walked nothing back.
Bream pressed Romer on the Senate specifically. Romer called it "an anachronistic institution" modeled on the British House of Lords and said the DSA wants a single-chamber legislature instead.
When Bream asked directly whether rapists and child predators should be locked away, Romer could not give a straight answer. She pivoted to "crimes of poverty" and what a long-term plan might look like. She never said yes.
Democrats in Full Panic as DSA Primary Wins Keep Piling Up
After that interview went viral, Democrat strategist Sabrina Singh – former deputy Pentagon press secretary and Kamala Harris 2024 campaign veteran – went on CNN's NewsNight to put out the fire.
Singh called the DSA platform "a huge problem" and insisted most Democrats don't agree with any of it. She said the DSA represents "a very small amount of individuals" who are "not representative of the Democratic Party at large."
Last night, Michigan voters answered her.
DSA-backed Donavan McKinney unseated incumbent Rep. Shri Thanedar in Michigan's 13th congressional district, winning 51.9% to 48.1%.
And DSA member William Lawrence won the 7th district Democratic nomination by 15 points, defeating a former U.S. ambassador and a former Navy SEAL.
Abdul El-Sayed – backed heavily by DSA members – defeated four-term Rep. Haley Stevens to claim Michigan's open U.S. Senate nomination in one of the most expensive Democrat primary battles in the country.
The DSA's Michigan chapters also flipped a state legislative seat and put a socialist on the Democratic ticket for Ann Arbor mayor unopposed.
Speaker Mike Johnson had warned Democrats this was coming.
"The barbarians are inside the gate – and Democrats are WELCOMING them in," Johnson posted the night of the Romer interview.
DSA Is Taking Over the Democrat Party and the 2026 Midterms Prove It
The DSA's winning streak now runs through New York, Colorado, and Michigan. Zohran Mamdani – the DSA member who runs New York City – backed three congressional candidates in New York in June. All three won, including one who knocked out the sitting chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
Megan Romer told Bream that establishment Democrats "should be worried about the voters" heading into November.
The DSA is not a fringe club holding rallies in a parking lot. It is the organization that put 50,000 volunteers on the ground for Mamdani alone – knocking 1.6 million doors – and is now winning Senate nominations in battleground states.
The moderate Democrat talking point has held for three election cycles: the socialist wing is small, unrepresentative, and going nowhere. Romer's Fox News confession and Michigan's returns buried that argument.
The DSA co-chair didn't accidentally stumble into a Fox News ambush. She sat down, smiled, and confirmed that her organization wants to dismantle the United States Senate, strip the military, erase the borders, free the prisons, and seize private business – and said all of it like she was reading a grocery list.
The problem is that Sabrina Singh's party built this – and Michigan just showed America it is nowhere close to stopping.
