Air Force General Warned Trump About One Risky Decision in Iran

America's military just obliterated every armed target on Iran's most valuable island.

Now a retired Air Force general is stepping forward with a warning before Trump takes the next step.

He's not saying don't do it – he's saying the president needs to understand exactly what he's ordering.

Blaine Holt Went on Newsmax and Said Seizing Kharg Island Would Cost American Blood

Retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Blaine Holt appeared on The Record With Greta Van Susteren on Newsmax and gave Trump a straight answer.

Yes, the U.S. can take Kharg Island.

"We could take Kharg Island," Holt said flatly.

Then he said the part that every American with a son or grandson in the Persian Gulf needs to hear.

"It would probably involve a great deal of risk," he told Van Susteren.

He said it again a few exchanges later: "Still, it would be very risky."

Holt is not a critic of the mission. He laid out exactly how the operation works – Marines already in the region leading the assault, massive air power to "soften up or eliminate" the IRGC forces dug in on the island, constant combat air patrol running the length of Iran's coastline to cut off reinforcements and counterattacks.

The island sits less than 20 miles off the Iranian coast – well within reach of ballistic missiles, drones, artillery, and fast-attack boats.

Since Trump's March 13 bombing run, Iran has been moving shoulder-fired missile systems onto the island and laying defensive traps. Intelligence confirms it. Tehran knows the Marines are coming.

Holt's bottom line: "The president would probably be weighing some very tough options if he has to send in the Marines."

What Happens to Iran Oil Exports the Day Marines Set Foot on Kharg Island

Roughly 90% of Iran's crude oil exports flow through Kharg every day. China depends on it for 13 to 18% of its daily oil intake. That revenue funds the IRGC, Hezbollah, and the drone factories supplying Russia's war machine in Ukraine.

Cut Kharg, and the mullahs are out of money within months.

White House officials told reporters that seizing the island would "totally bankrupt" the IRGC. Trump told the Financial Times on Sunday his preference is to "take the oil in Iran," pointing directly to the U.S. seizure of Venezuelan oil following Maduro's capture in January as the model.

The assets are already in position. Two Marine Expeditionary Units – roughly 3,000 Marines combined – arrived in the Middle East on Friday. Another 1,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne are en route. The USS Tripoli, an amphibious assault ship built for island operations, is steaming toward the Gulf.

Sen. Tom Cotton, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told reporters Trump has been "prudent" not to rule out a ground operation and confirmed the administration has "mountains of plans" prepared.

Cotton has seen the classified briefings. He's comfortable with what he saw.

Iran Has Until April 6 to Open the Strait of Hormuz and Trump Means It This Time

On Monday morning, Trump posted a fresh ultimatum on Truth Social – open the Strait of Hormuz immediately or the U.S. would "blow up and completely obliterate" Iran's electric plants, oil wells, and Kharg Island itself.

The deadline is April 6.

Iran is stalling. Tehran rejected the U.S. 15-point ceasefire proposal and sent back demands that include war reparations and formal recognition of Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

That's not a negotiation. Iran is buying time while it fortifies an island it knows America is eyeing.

Holt's warning isn't a reason to back down. The historical record proves the leverage is real – Saddam Hussein's sustained bombing of Kharg during the Iran-Iraq War crippled Iran's oil revenue and eventually forced Tehran to the table.

Trump doesn't need to bomb it again. He needs Iran to open the strait and sign terms.

Seizing an island 20 miles off a hostile coastline is not a surgical strike. Marines will be in the open, supply lines will be under fire, and Iran will throw everything it has left at a target it cannot afford to lose.

Blaine Holt made sure the president knows it.
