Prime Minister Mark Carney just declared Canada at war with the United States.
While he did that, Carney quietly handed a newly created senior role in his government to a Hillary Clinton campaign operative.
What she has been telling Obama, Soros, and Podesta is the one thing Carney refuses to explain.
Hillary Clinton Operative Maia Johnson Now Runs Canada's Prime Minister's Office
In mid-July, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney created a brand-new position in the Canadian government and handed it to an American.
Maia Johnson – a veteran Democrat operative who worked Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign – is now Chief Operating Officer of the Prime Minister's Office.
The position is the equivalent of White House Chief of Staff. Johnson is the first person to ever hold the title in Canadian history.
She is not a Canadian citizen.
As an American citizen, Johnson is barred from Canadian Top Secret security clearance. The Prime Minister's Office handles national security briefings, intelligence sharing, and the full scope of Canada-U.S. relations – the most sensitive conversations between two governments now locked in a declared trade war.
Carney never announced the hire publicly. Canadians only found out after anonymous sources inside the government tipped off the Globe and Mail.
There is one more detail the Prime Minister buried. In June, Canada's Ethics Commissioner fined Johnson $200 for failing to file required compliance paperwork within 60 days of joining the government.
She had already been shaping Canada-U.S. strategy for months before Canadians knew her name – and she was already breaking the rules.
Johnson's career reads like a Democrat Party org chart. She ran scheduling for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, then moved to Michael Bloomberg's Hawkfish political firm as a strategic consultant.
She provided support to the Biden campaign through the end of 2020 before landing at Bloomberg LP. From there she crossed into climate finance work alongside Carney at the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero – the organization Michael Bloomberg himself co-chaired.
That is where the relationship was built. And that is how a Clinton operative ended up running Canada's government.
Obama Soros and Podesta Held Secret Meetings With Carney Before the Canada Trade War
Johnson did not arrive from nowhere. Her path to Ottawa runs through a network of American Democrats who have been meeting privately with Carney – and strategizing against Trump – for over a year.
In May 2026, Carney delivered the closing keynote at the Global Progress Action Summit in Toronto. Journalists were not invited. Sharing the stage: John Podesta – Clinton's 2016 campaign chairman and Biden's $375-billion climate spending czar – along with Alex Soros, Pete Buttigieg, and Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin.
That night, Podesta arranged a private meeting between Carney, Obama, and Soros. No journalists were present, and Carney has never explained what was discussed.
Weeks later, the same network reassembled in Nova Scotia. That second closed-door session included federal Industry Minister Mélanie Joly, Alex Soros, Huma Abedin – a Hillary Clinton loyalist – and Frank McKenna, deputy chair of TD Bank Group and chairman of Brookfield Asset Management.
Maia Johnson knows every person in those rooms.
Johnson is personally connected to Huma Abedin and worked alongside Podesta's climate network. That gives her a direct line to every Democrat power broker now shaping Canadian strategy toward the United States.
None of it happened by accident.
How Democrats Helped Carney Start the Canada Trade War
The people in Carney's backrooms have something to show for their work.
On July 1, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer formally notified Canada the U.S. would not renew the USMCA in its current form. Months of negotiations followed.
Those talks collapsed last week – and Greer put the blame on Ottawa, saying Canada reversed earlier agreements and added new conditions at the last minute.
Trump responded with 50 percent tariffs on $20 billion in Canadian goods. Canada announced it would match them dollar for dollar starting September 8.
Carney's response to all of it: "You're at war when you get attacked. We got attacked."
That is the prime minister of a country that sends nearly all of its exports to America – and he just declared war on it. With a Hillary Clinton operative managing his office. After two secret strategy sessions with Obama and Soros.
Trump posted on Truth Social: "Canada has been ripping off the United States of America for years… They do 95 percent of their business with us, the exact opposite!"
The Democrat establishment did not stop interfering in American politics when Trump defeated them. They moved the operation to Ottawa.
