Five years later, the Senate finally had Fauci in a chair under subpoena.

Fauci Invokes the Fifth Amendment 111 Times at Senate Hearing
Anthony Fauci appeared before Sen. Rand Paul's Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee under subpoena – because he agreed to testify, then backed out, and Paul had to drag him in.
The former top government scientist invoked the Fifth Amendment 111 times.
Sen. Josh Hawley confronted Fauci directly, citing the Supreme Court's 1896 ruling in Brown v. Walker: "Let's just get one thing straight. You don't have any rights under the Fifth Amendment because you've been pardoned, as you very well know."
Fauci refused to answer that, too.
What day was it? Fifth Amendment.
What color was his tie? Fifth Amendment.
Every single response was the same scripted line: "On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution."
The committee vote on contempt is scheduled for August 5.
Rush Limbaugh Called Fauci a COVID Liar Before Anyone Would Listen
Rush Limbaugh saw this coming five years ago.
In January 2021, just days after Biden's inauguration, Rush played a clip of Fauci telling a reporter the new administration gave him a "somewhat liberating feeling" – finally free to let the science speak.
Rush went straight at him: "What arrogance. This is Fauci, who essentially is saying, you can't challenge me. You can't question me. I am science."
Rush paraphrased what Fauci was really saying: "He made me lie to the American people, which cost lives, and I feel liberated now to be out from under all this."
Then Rush rolled the tape from January 2020 – Fauci on Newsmax, assuring America that COVID was "not a major threat" and "not something that the citizens of the United States right now should be worried about."
Rush's verdict: "Donald Trump never told anybody don't worry about it like Dr. Fauci did."
He was right.
Fauci told Congress under oath that the NIH had never funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology – while the evidence showed American taxpayer dollars did exactly that.
His own private notes from February 2020 show he was told by prominent scientists that the virus had potentially engineered features – the same month he was publicly dismissing the lab-leak theory.
He walked out of the Biden White House with a blanket, preemptive pardon stuffed in his pocket – and still would not talk.
Fauci Faces Contempt of Congress After Biden Pardon Fails as Shield
Biden's pardon was supposed to make Fauci untouchable forever.
Hawley laid out the legal argument at the hearing: a pardon removes the threat of prosecution, which is the entire basis for Fifth Amendment protection, and the Supreme Court established that principle in 1896 in Brown v. Walker.
Hans von Spakovsky of Advancing American Freedom confirmed the pardon does not cover perjury committed after it was issued – meaning any truthful statement Fauci makes today opens new legal exposure if it contradicts his prior testimony.
Fauci lied so many times that even with a pardon, he cannot tell the truth without getting caught.
Sen. Ron Johnson put it directly at the hearing: "I think it would be almost impossible for you to answer the questions truthfully without really demonstrating what you did."

Rand Paul's contempt vote happens August 5.
Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner noted Biden's pardon shields Fauci from federal prosecution for past offenses but leaves him exposed to state charges, future criminal conduct, and any perjury committed after the pardon was issued.
Mike Davis, writing in Fox News, called for contempt citation, federal indictment, and every state with dealings with Fauci to scour its records for criminal exposure.
Fauci spent four years as the untouchable face of American public health – worshipped by the media, protected by the Democrat Party, shielded by a compliant press that Rush correctly identified as treating his every word as scripture.
He sat in front of the Senate last week and could not answer what color his tie was.
Rush called the man a fraud while he was still on television every night.
America is finally catching up.
