Now she's back on The View demanding reparations from taxpayers.

Sunny Hostin Claims Smithsonian Hearings Are Really About Avoiding Reparations
Sunny Hostin used a recent episode of The View to connect Republican scrutiny of the Smithsonian Institution and the National Museum of African American History and Culture to the reparations debate.
The White House is cracking down on the Smithsonian’s woke revisionism of American history.
"I think the reason, the real reason behind this is about financial repair to the descendants to the enslaved Africans," Hostin said on air.
"I think this reflects a really broad effort by the Trump administration to reshape the way the nation's history is told so this country does not have to pay black people for the forced labor and the unpaid labor that built this country."
Whoopi Goldberg asked her to spell it out.
Hostin obliged: "Reparations."
The argument: Trump is rewriting history at the Smithsonian specifically to dodge a payment she believes America owes her.
She also cited the United Nations General Assembly's March 2026 vote declaring the transatlantic slave trade "the gravest crime against humanity."
The U.S. voted against that resolution.
Ambassador Dan Negrea – the U.S. representative to the UN Economic and Social Council – stated clearly that the United States "does not recognize a legal right to reparations for historical wrongs that were not illegal under international law at the time they occurred."
Hostin disagreed – loudly, on national television.
Sunny Hostin Found Out Her Ancestors Were Slave Owners on Finding Your Roots
Two years before Hostin’s performance, Henry Louis Gates Jr. sat across from her on Finding Your Roots and delivered news she described as a shock.
Her maternal Puerto Rican family – the side she had long identified with most – traced back not to indigenous Puerto Rico but to Galicia, Spain.
And her third great-grandfather, Fermín Beza, "owned at least one human being," Gates said.
His father, her fourth great-grandfather, was a merchant "who was likely involved in the slave trade."
When Spain restricted the trade, the family didn't walk away from the business.
They relocated to Puerto Rico and brought their enslaved people with them.
"I've been told that they were printers and journalists," Hostin said on air after the revelation.
"But they were, in fact, enslavers."
She called it "deeply disappointing."
Her mother cried.
Then Hostin returned to The View and said, "I still believe in reparations, by the way."
She added: "I still believe this country has a lot to do in terms of racial justice."
She also suggested her mother's deep connection to black culture throughout her life had been "an atonement" for what the family's ancestors did.
Hostin Demands Reparations While Her Own Slave Owner Ancestors Go Unaddressed
Hostin's position isn't just inconsistent – it's an instruction manual in how the Left uses guilt as a weapon while writing themselves a personal exemption.
She descends from a family that trafficked in enslaved human beings across colonial Spain and Puerto Rico, and she has not put a single dollar toward the cause she insists the American taxpayer must finance.
Hostin's family answers both sides of the reparations ledger – enslaver and claimant – and she still wants to collect.
Trump's position, delivered through Ambassador Negrea, is legally sound: the United States government does not owe financial compensation for acts that were legal under the law of the time they occurred.
The American taxpayer is not writing her a check.
