Elon Musk set a goal of finding $2 trillion in wasteful spending to cut via the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
But all hell broke loose when Musk unleashed DOGE auditors on the USAID.
And Elon Musk responded to Thomas Massie’s call to abolish the USAID with one word that has Democrats preparing for war.
Even Donald Trump’s biggest supporters have been surprised by the major moves he’s made since taking office on January 20.
Trump started signing executive orders within moments of taking office that rescinded dozens of Joe Biden’s failed policies and fulfilled many of his campaign promises.
Donald Trump achieved more in his first three weeks than most Presidents do in four years.
He restored free speech, ended censorship, shut down federal DEI hiring practices, protected the integrity of women’s sports, reversed Joe Biden’s electric vehicle mandate, and unleashed American energy production, among many other wins.
While Donald Trump’s executive orders infuriated Democrats, it was Elon Musk and DOGE that really sent the Left over the rails.
Under Elon’s supervision, DOGE staffers are auditing federal agencies and canceling wasteful taxpayer-funded projects and grants.
Democrats took to the streets when Musk gained access this week to the Treasury Department’s payment system.
But this was just the tip of the iceberg for Musk.
DOGE is also going through the Labor Department and recently gained on-site access to payments and contracting information from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
On Friday, Trump praised Elon Musk during an Oval Office meeting with the leader of Japan.
“Elon is doing a great job,” Trump said. “He’s finding tremendous fraud, corruption, and waste.”
“You see it with the USAID, but you’re gonna see it even more so with other agencies and other parts of the government,” Trump said.
“He’s got a staff that’s fantastic,” he continued. “He’s wanted to be able to do this for a long time.”
Trump added that “we’re going to be very close to balancing budgets for the first time in many years.”

On Truth Social, Trump called for shutting down the USAID.
“USAID IS DRIVING THE RADICAL LEFT CRAZY, AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE WAY IN WHICH THE MONEY HAS BEEN SPENT, SO MUCH OF IT FRAUDULENTLY, IS TOTALLY UNEXPLAINABLE,” Trump wrote on Friday.
“THE CORRUPTION IS AT LEVELS RARELY SEEN BEFORE,” he continued. “CLOSE IT DOWN!”
Representative Greg Steube introduced a bill to abolish the USAID and shut it down permanently.
Congressman Thomas Massie announced on X that he had just cosponsored Steube’s bill.
“I just cosponsored @RepGregSteube’s bill to abolish the United States Agency for International Development (USAID),” Massie wrote. “USAID sends billions of American tax dollars overseas,” he continued. “When it spends at home, it’s subsidizing subscriptions to left-leaning outlets like @politico.”
