186 House Democrats Voted to Protect Criminals From Being Deported for This Sick Crime

The federal government loses more than $500 billion a year to fraud – and illegal aliens are walking away with a massive cut of it.

House Republicans put a bill on the floor this week to stop it.

186 Democrats voted no – and what they said to justify it will leave you speechless.

House Passes the Deporting Fraudsters Act to Deport Illegal Immigrants Who Commit Welfare Fraud

The Deporting Fraudsters Act cleared the House by a 231 – 186 vote, with Representative David Taylor of Ohio leading the charge.

The bill does exactly what it says.

It amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to make fraud against taxpayer-funded programs a deportable offense.

Rep. Tom McClintock put it plainly on the House floor: "If you admit to or you're convicted of fraudulently receiving public benefits, you are out of here on the next plane and can never return."

Republicans made clear that nothing in the bill prevents criminal prosecution before deportation.

Every single Republican voted yes.

Nearly every single Democrat voted no.

House Democrats Vote to Shield Illegal Aliens From Deportation for Welfare Fraud

Jamie Raskin – the Maryland Democrat who spent years lecturing America about protecting democracy – walked onto the House floor and called the bill "another redundant and completely unnecessary immigration crime bill."

That's his position.

Half a trillion dollars lost to fraud every year, and Raskin says the law fixing it is unnecessary.

His argument was that illegal aliens convicted of fraud can already be deported under existing law – so this bill is overkill.

Republicans fired back: existing law hasn't stopped hundreds of billions from being plundered.

The White House Office of Management and Budget puts federal fraud losses at $233 billion to $521 billion annually across welfare and social service programs.

California is a case study in what that looks like on the ground.

Federal officials froze portions of California's benefit funding over what they described as "serious concerns about widespread fraud and misuse of taxpayer dollars."

A separate investigation uncovered a $181 million EBT fraud operation in the state – illegal aliens using benefit cards intended for low-income American families. In New York, a $120 million Medicare and Medicaid scheme was blown open by federal prosecutors.

Those are just the cases that made headlines.

The federal government spends over $1 trillion annually on welfare and social service programs. The OMB estimates that somewhere between a fifth and half of that total is being stolen every single year. Not skimmed. Not misallocated. Stolen.

The fraud isn't isolated. It's a business model.

186 Democrats Just Handed Republicans Their Biggest Immigration Attack Ad of 2026

The Deporting Fraudsters Act is almost certainly dead in the Senate.

Democrats control enough votes to kill it under the 60-vote threshold, and they will.

But that vote is now a matter of permanent record.

186 Democrats went on record opposing deportation for illegal aliens who steal from programs built to help vulnerable Americans – seniors, disabled adults, children.

Two years ago, 155 House Democrats voted against deporting illegal aliens who commit Social Security fraud. This week that number jumped to 186 – despite welfare fraud becoming a national scandal that every American already knows about.

The pattern is obvious.

Democrats aren't opposing this bill because they misread the law. They're opposing it because they don't want illegal aliens deported, period. The fraud angle just makes that position impossible to defend.

They’re more interested in protecting illegal aliens than the American taxpayer.

Republicans put forward a bill that does one thing: if you entered this country illegally and then stole from American taxpayers, you get deported. That's it. That's the whole bill. And 186 Democrats looked at that and voted no.

They'll spend the next seven months explaining that vote to constituents who are watching their Medicare benefits get squeezed, their Social Security statements shrink, and their grocery bills climb.

Every one of those 186 Democrats just gave their Republican opponents ammo for their campaigns.

Raskin called it unnecessary. His 185 colleagues agreed.

The seniors whose Medicare got looted, the disabled adults whose housing funds were stolen – they might see it differently.
