Home Improvement was one of the most popular sitcoms of the 1990s.

The cast developed a special bond over eight seasons.

And Tim Allen was crushed when he got this tragic news about a beloved Home Improvement co-star.

Home Improvement co-star gets into more legal trouble

Former child actor Zachery Ty Bryan played Brad Taylor on the ABC Sitcom Home Improvement

His character was the oldest son of comedian Tim Allen’s character, Tim “The Toolman” Taylor, on the show.

Bryan had a steady acting career after leaving the sitcom in 1999 until 2009 when he retired from acting.

The former child star has battled personal demons since quitting Hollywood.

He was arrested in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on second-degree domestic violence charges.

The unidentified woman that Bryan allegedly attacked shares a child with him.

Bryan has had his share of run-ins with the law over the years.

He spent seven days in jail in Oregon after he was arrested on domestic violence charges in July 2023 during a domestic disturbance.

Bryan told the Hollywood Reporter he was struggling in life.

“I do know when things get in the way of who you’re meant to be, where you’re supposed to go, and what God has planned for you,” Bryan said. “He sometimes challenges you to do some reflecting by looking in the mirror and taking responsibility.”

Last October, he was found passed out in his car on the side of the road in Oklahoma and was arrested for DUI.

He refused to perform a sobriety test and was thrown in jail.

“I’m just a good dude, man, I don’t know why everybody — I’m sorry, I like to drink,” Bryan told the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper as they arrested him at the time.

Allen and Karn weigh in on Bryan’s struggles

Allen told the Hollywood Reporter in June 2023 that he didn’t “know what’s going on with” Bryan.

“Zach is a great kid who has grown into a complex man,” Allen said. “All you can do is step aside and let somebody go through their process.”

He was at a loss for what happened to Bryan.

“At a certain point, he deviated from the guy I know to somebody who is reacting to situations that I had nothing to do with and can’t control,” Allen said. “I don’t know what happens when people get corrupted. You just don’t know.”

The comedian hoped that his former co-star could get his life turned around.

“I know Zach’s heart,” Allen stated. “He’s got to figure out his own way.”

Actor Richard Karn played straight-man Al Borland on Home Improvement

He speculated that the fame of being a child star could be the source of Bryan’s struggles as an adult.

“When you [have] 12-year-olds in a position where they can buy their parents a house, that’s a very weird thing for that growing mind and ego of a 12-year-old and what the world is,” Karn told Fox News. “I’m sure that has something to do with it.”

Hopefully, Zachary Ty Bryan can get his life straightened out at some point.
