Like most events in Washington, D.C., the newly sworn-in 119th Congress started off with a bit of drama.
Yet again the RINO establishment is tossing out all of the promises they made to voters throughout this past election cycle in favor of maintaining their failed and corrupt status quo.
And now Thomas Massie drew a line in the sand on a RINO betrayal that has America First Patriots lauding him as a hero.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (RiNO-LA), with the help of Democrats like Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), passed his swampy spending bill, which angered working class Americans to no end.
After President-elect Donald Trump handedly defeated Vice President Kamala Harris, he announced that he’d follow through with Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk’s idea to form the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in order to finally cut taxpayer spending and overregulation, leading many Americans to believe that hope for a better future was finally on the horizon.
And for the first time since the heyday of the Tea Party movement in 2010, Members of Congress were seemingly interested in slashing the size and scope of the federal government.
So much so that Congressman Greg Casar (D-TX) joked, “Speaker Johnson should just hand Elon Musk the gavel.”
Despite how strange it may sound, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) echoed Rep. Casar’s comments on X by writing, “Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk.”
“Think about it,” the Senator continued. “Nothing’s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka ‘uniparty,’ lose their ever-lovin’ minds).”
Even establishment elites like Senators Joni Ernst (RINO-IA) and John Cornyn (RINO-TX) were praising Musk, with Cornyn calling the budget cutting endeavor “a once in a generation opportunity.”
And when Speaker Johnson once again stabbed conservatives in the back to work with Democrats on passing a wasteful, pork-filled, inflation-inducing spending bill, it destroyed all the momentum Trump and Musk were building heading into Inauguration Day on January 20.
Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon slammed Speaker Johnson for the blunder saying, “Johnson should, right now, resign.”
As one can imagine, this caused confusion and chaos within the America First coalition.
Speaker Johnson’s seeming betrayal of the America First movement infuriated budget hawks, like Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY), and needlessly jeopardized the first couple of years of the incoming Trump administration.
As a matter of fact, Congressman Massie found Johnson’s actions to be so egregious and destructive to the America First movement and the opportunity Republicans have with the incoming Trump administration, he refused to vote for Johnson in his bid to be re-elected as Speaker.
I will vote for someone other than Mike Johnson. I’m not persuaded by the “hurry up and elect him so we can certify the election on J6” argument. A weak legislative branch, beholden to the swamp, will not be able to achieve the mandate voters gave Trump and Congress in November. pic.twitter.com/vrD3l45XDX

“You can pull all my fingernails out, you can shove bamboo up in them, you can start cutting off my fingers. I am not voting for Mike Johnson tomorrow, and you can take that to the bank,” said Congressman Massie.
And as a result, Trump had to roll up his sleeves to clean up the mess Johnson created.
Make no mistake about it, Speaker Johnson has effectively been pardoned yet again by Trump, making this only the fifth or sixth “second chance” that the President-elect has expected the America First movement to give Johnson.
And House Republicans have certainly proven over the years that they are more than capable of tossing out a RINO Speaker and replacing him with what is effectively an exact replica of said RINO Speaker, as was the case when former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (RINO-CA) replaced former Speaker Paul Ryan (RINO-WI), and when Speaker Johnson replaced McCarthy.
The 9 number is important — 3 votes for someone else and 6 who withheld to end then voted for Johnson — because that’s the new threshold for motion to vacate (9 members) in new House rules package. So it could be they’re sending Johnson a message here and come around on ballot 2

Now, the Republican-led 119th Congress is off to yet another rocky start, which is not exactly ideal when voters specifically gave them control of the White House, Senate, and House to do the exact opposite of what they’ve set out to do.
As Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy work to rebuild the DOGE’s lost momentum in Washington, D.C., they do so now with little margin for era.
And make no mistake about it, at the end of the day, the overwhelming majority of “Republican” politicians are no different than their Democratic counterparts, as the likes of Johnson, Cornyn, Ernst, and others have proven repeatedly throughout the years.
But thankfully for working class Americans, Rep. Thomas Massie is one of a select few who are working tirelessly to carry out the will of the people and put America First.
