The View Tried to Blame Republicans for the DHS Shutdown for One Laughable Reason

TSA agents are sleeping in their cars to afford gas money to get to work.

Democrats have now blocked DHS funding five separate times – and on The View, Sunny Hostin accidentally told her audience exactly why.

She admitted Democrats are blocking the funding – then looked into the camera and blamed Republicans.

Sunny Hostin Admitted Democrats Are Blocking DHS Funding on Live TV

Ana Navarro handed the audience the whole story without realizing it.

Democrats are blocking the funding, she explained, because they want ICE agents unmasked, bodycam-equipped, and forced to get judicial warrants before apprehending illegal aliens.

Sunny Hostin agreed – and then finished the confession.

"And that's why they're holding up funding," Hostin said.

That was the confession – on camera, on the record, with a transcript to back it up.

Then Hostin pivoted without a single breath.

"But let's be clear – this is a Republican choice. This is a Republican problem."

The logic: Republicans rejected Democrat demands, therefore Democrats blocking the bill is Republicans' fault.

Filling-in co-host Abby Huntsman tried to slow the spin down.

"Doesn't it always take two, though, Sunny?"

Hostin didn't blink.

"This is really a Republican problem."

Huntsman offered the only honest line of the morning: "I think it's an American problem."

Chuck Schumer Has Blocked the DHS Funding Bill Five Times

Senate Democrats have voted to block the Homeland Security Appropriations bill five separate times since DHS funding expired on February 14.

The House passed it.

Democrats in the Senate filibustered it – every single time.

John Fetterman was the only Democrat to vote yes.

On the Senate floor, Ted Cruz quoted Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz – widely seen as Schumer's heir apparent – directly.

"The Democrats are positively serene about TSA not being paid," Cruz said, citing Schatz by name.

JD Vance called it what it is.

"It's preposterous that Chuck Schumer continues to hold TSA funding hostage," the Vice President said this weekend.

Speaker Mike Johnson was equally direct – Democrats are holding DHS "hostage in order to protect criminal illegal aliens" while 50,000 TSA agents miss another paycheck.

The View Blamed Republicans for the Last Government Shutdown Too

This is not a new move.

When the fall 2025 government shutdown ended – after Democrats blocked funding for over a month demanding Obamacare subsidy extensions – Hostin went on The View and blamed Republicans for that one too.

"Republicans run the House, the Republicans run the Senate, the Republicans run the White House, the Republicans run the Supreme Court," she said at the time, ignoring the fact that any Senate funding bill requires 60 votes – votes that require Democrat support.

Different shutdown. Same gaslighting. And it worked the first time.

Democrats announce they are withholding votes to extract concessions, block the bill repeatedly, watch federal workers miss paychecks – then Hostin walks on camera and tells ABC's audience Republicans did it.

Democrats are betting it works again.

What the DHS Shutdown Is Actually Doing to TSA Workers

Over 400 TSA officers have quit since the shutdown began.

Hundreds more are calling out sick because they cannot afford childcare, gas, or food.

Pop-up food banks have appeared in South Florida and Pittsburgh feeding TSA families while Congress stalls.

One acting TSA official told Congress the agency faces a 25 percent spike in attrition during shutdowns – and this one is hitting right before spring break and the World Cup.

Trump moved ICE agents into airports today to fill the gaps Democrats created.

Hostin's response: ICE agents have no business in airports.

That's the party that caused the shortage objecting to the solution.

The women of The View told their audience the whole story this morning.

Democrats are holding up the funding.

TSA workers are suffering for it.

Schumer is "serene."

Sunny Hostin just told 50,000 unpaid federal workers that's a Republican problem.
