Pop star Taylor Swift is the biggest celebrity on the planet right now.
Democrats have been begging her to once again throw her support behind their efforts to defeat Donald Trump.
And now Taylor Swift has officially entered the 2024 election with this major decision.
Swift endorses Kamala
Pop megastar Taylor Swift has been the dream endorsement for Democrats dating back to when President Joe Biden was in the race.
Her massive following of younger fans has the lowest turnout of any demographic.
Democrats dreamed that she would be able to activate younger voters who might otherwise sit on the sideline for the election.
Swift endorsed Biden in 2020, and like most every celebrity, has been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump since he entered the political arena nearly a decade ago.
Rumors swirled that she or pop R&B star Beyonce could be a surprise performer during the final night of the Democratic National Convention but neither appeared at the event.
Following the debate by Trump against Vice President Kamala Harris and two ABC News moderators, Democrats finally got their wish.
Swift issued an endorsement about a half hour after the debate on social media.
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for [Kamala Harris] because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” Swift wrote on Instagram.
Taylor Swift takes a shot at Vance
Swift did Democrats a favor by including a link to register to vote for her fans and encouraged them to vote early.
“I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story,” Swift wrote.
She referenced a movement by Swift fans supporting Trump that created artificial intelligence (AI) images of her that were made in jest.
“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter,” Swift wrote.
The pop star took a dig at U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) for criticizing Democrats’ anti-family agenda when he called Kamala, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and others “childless cat ladies.”
Swift included a picture of her with her cat in the post.
“With love and hope,” Swift signed off the message. “Taylor Swift… Childless Cat Lady.”
