Tensions between the United States and Russia are at their highest level since the Cold War.
That’s put the world on pins and needles, bracing for the worst as the conflict has only been escalated by the neocons calling the shots within the Biden-Harris regime.
And now Russia is allegedly threatening to deploy this crippling attack against America without ever firing a single shot.
Russia allegedly threatens to cut undersea internet cables
A CNN report found that U.S. officials are warning of “increased Russian military activity around key undersea cables” that carry internet traffic around the world.
Meanwhile, Russia is accusing the U.S. and other western nations of preparing to do the very same thing.
Oddly enough, the entire ordeal sounds eerily similar to the bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline, which the U.S. originally blamed on Russia before it was proven that the Biden regime was behind the attack all along.
Some of these cables stretch from one continent to another so they’re impossible to guard at all times, which makes them a vulnerable target for enemy attacks.
CNN reports that the U.S. “believes Russia may now be more likely to carry out potential sabotage operations aimed at disabling a critical piece of the world’s communications infrastructure.”
This information is according to two US officials, who also said they were “concerned about heightened Russian naval activity worldwide and that Russia’s decision calculus for damaging US and allied undersea critical infrastructure may be changing.”
Meanwhile, Russia insists that it is the U.S. and the United Kingdom who are actually planning to carry out undersea cable attacks.
“An ally of Vladimir Putin has accused the US and the UK of intending to sabotage underwater internet cables and planning to destabilize the maritime industry trade,” the report continued.
If either side were to do such a thing, it would have massive repercussions on the economy and society as a whole.
Hundreds of fiber optic cables are laid out across the ocean floor that process real-time global transmission of data and communications.
Those cables serve as a pathway for approximately 99% of internet traffic today and for most telecommunications as well.
The first undersea telegraph cable was laid in 1858, and there are almost 400 cables today.
If even one of those lines were cut, people could instantly lose access to video, messages, phone calls, streaming services, and other communications.
Online businesses and banks would also be affected, and financial networks would be at great risk.
Even more dire is that it could affect critical infrastructure like water and transportation networks and power grids.
An entire country could lose access to the internet all at once, disrupting banks, health systems, and most businesses.
And it could take several months for those cables to be located and repaired.
A world without the internet
The entire United States economy has become dependent on the Internet for the last 20 years or more.
If it were to be cut off from the rest of the world, it would create serious economic bedlam.
For example, payment systems and ATMs would no longer work, and trillions of dollars would be wiped off the European and US economies as banks are removed from the global financial system.
Workplaces and businesses would also feel the effects, and colleges and schools would no longer be able to hold online classes.
E-commerce would be hit especially hard since they could no longer sell or ship goods to customers.
Supply chains would be disrupted, causing shortages of essential goods and services to people nationwide.
While the threat of nuclear war is certainly more concerning, the disruption of the internet could also cause a ripple effect that might last for years to come.
