Reba McEntire is the queen of country music.

Nearly 50 years have passed since she signed her first recording deal, but she’s still going strong.

And Reba McEntire has fans in an uproar after she teased one secret about this major country star.

Reba is returning to TV

Country music icon Reba McEntire is getting ready to make her long-awaited return to scripted TV with her new NBC sitcom Happy’s Place.

Entertainment Tonight asked her on the red carpet for the season finale of NBC’s The Voice if country music star Blake Shelton would appear on her new sitcom.

“You think he’ll do it?” McEntire replied.

Shelton is a fellow coach on The Voice alongside McEntire this season.

“He’s worked so hard and so long,” McEntire said about Shelton. “Blake, you heard it!”

In Happy’s Place, McEntire plays Bobby, a character who inherits her father’s bar and restaurant after he passes away.

She returns home to run it and discovers that she has a half-sister, Isabella, whom she never knew was going to be her business partner, played by Hocus Pocus 2 star Belissa Escobedo.

McEntire previously starred in the sitcoms Malibu Country and Reba.

And she’s reuniting with some of the Reba cast and crew on Happy’s Place.

“We have been working on trying to get another show since we were canceled on the Reba show,” McEntire said. “We got to do Malibu Country for one season. We’ve got the same producers, same showrunner, same writers and now we’re back with Melissa Peterman and Rex Linn, my boyfriend, and wonderful, wonderful cast and crew.”

Peterman starred on Reba with the country music icon from 2001 to 2007.

This time she’s back playing one of the bartenders on the show while Linn is playing the cook.

McEntire and Peterman became good friends while working on Reba.

“I know she’s got my back whether we ever work together again, she is on my side always, and she knows I’m on hers,” Peterman said. “I feel very, very lucky.”

Reba McEntire causes a stir while hosting the ACM Awards

McEntire wrapped up season 25 of The Voice by coaching the winner of the reality singing contest show.

She was also the host of the 2024 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, where she turned heads with her praise for an up-and-coming country star.

Country music star Lainey Wilson opened up the awards show by covering the 90’s country hit God Bless Texas and her song Hang Tight Honey.

McEntire offered some surprising praise for the 31-year-old Wilson after her performance.

“God bless Texas and Lainey Wilson for kicking off country music’s party of the year in high style. I’m so proud of Lainey, who’s earned five ACM Award nominations tonight, including Entertainer of the Year. Well, from this belt-buckle girl, to the bell bottom cowgirl, I’m blown away by her work ethic and how you’re representing country music so well,” McEntire said.

“You’re giving Dolly Parton a run for her money,” she added.

Reba McEntire isn’t slowing down while she juggles a career in music and TV.
