Van Jones says Trump is smarter than Democrats
Left-wing journalist Chris Cillizza was dumbfounded by the fact that Donald Trump was the politician who created a media revolution in the 2024 election.
It was Trump – who Cillizza said never owned a computer, used email, and still writes handwritten notes – who obliterated the legacy media stranglehold on the information ecosystem by executing a New Media press strategy that relied on podcasters and social media influencers since they have bigger audiences than the contracting legacy press.
“How the hell did Donald Trump figure out the mainstream media is now the fringe and the fringe is now the mainstream? How the hell did Donald Trump figure out — I mean, Joe Rogan is obvious, right? Like we knew the guy had a big audience, it’s not like we were stunned. But how was he — this 78-year-old guy who doesn’t even have a computer and still writes handwritten notes — how did he become the guy who cracked the code on, to your point, running a cultural (I don’t even want to say campaign) heading a cultural movement?” Cillizza asked.
Cillizza’s guest, CNN commentator Van Jones said Democrats had to stop denying reality.
Everyone on the Left, Jones explained, thinks Elon Musk is the bogeyman.
“It’s a movement. Every one of your people know: Elon, Elon, Elon,” Jones began.
But Jones told Cillizza the problem is the Left thinks Trump is some kind of vainglorious incompetent.
“The problem is you have this framework within your mind, ‘How can Donald Trump? How can Donald Trump? How can Donald Trump?’” Jones continued.
Jones then said the Left had to come to grips with the fact that Donald Trump was smarter than every single one of them.
“Guys, can we cut it out? Donald Trump is not an idiot. Donald Trump, let me be very clear, Donald Trump is smarter than me, you, and all his critics,” Jones began.
Jones said the proof was in the pudding as Trump won the popular vote, led the GOP to unified control and governed, and created a media ecosystem that is larger and more powerful than the traditional media.
And Trump pulled all of this off right under the Democrat Party’s nose.
“Do you know why we know? Because he has the White House, the Senate, the House, and the popular vote, he has a massive media ecosystem bigger than the mainstream built around him and for him, and a religious fervor in a political movement around him. And he is best buddies with the richest person in the history of the world. And the most relevant Kennedy is with him,” Jones added.
Jones said any Democrat wondering how Trump pulled this off looked like a fool as Trump was the most powerful man in their lifetime so it was time to stop asking how Trump could do what he’s doing.
“This dude is a phenomenon. He is the most powerful human on earth, and in our lifetime, and we’re supposed to be like, ‘Well how did this guy . . . ?’ We look like idiots,” Jones concluded.
