Elon Musk is shaking things up in the Washington, D.C. Swamp.

He’s accomplishing what was once thought impossible.

And MSNBC made one scary confession about Elon Musk that left Democrats on red alert.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk declare war on the federal bureaucracy

President Donald Trump returned to the White House with a mandate from voters to finish draining the Swamp.

The occupants of the White House change but the vast unelected bureaucracy remains the same.

Trump wants to slash the number of federal employees to save taxpayer money and return control of the government to elected officials.

He issued an executive order ordering federal employees to return to work in the office full-time after the majority were still on generous remote work privileges from the pandemic.

The Trump administration offered federal employees eight months’ salary in exchange for their resignations.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and his team at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) began targeting federal agencies with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Trump moved to shut the agency down after DOGE exposed it was spending billions of dollars on transgender operas in South America, funneling money to Hamas, and funding left-wing nonprofits connected to Democrats.

The Trump administration is attempting the biggest restructuring of the federal government in decades with buyouts, firings, and shutting down agencies.

Federal employees are terrified of Elon Musk and DOGE

Puck News writer John Heilemann admitted that Musk and DOGE have put “the fear of god” into federal employees during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe

Co-host Mika Brzezinski noted that DOGE and the Trump administration’s efforts to trim the federal bureaucracy have faced a series of lawsuits from Democrats.

“At the same time, aren’t some of these firings and buyouts and moves going forward while we wait for the courts to proceed?” Brzezinski asked. “Isn’t the damage being done right now?”

Heilemann said the courts were stopping some of it but the damage to the bureaucracy was being done.

“At the moment, those agencies are not functional, so you can, there’s, yes, damage is being done,” Heilemann replied. “I think damage is being done kind of independent of that also, Mika, because the reality is that if you are living in a federal agency right now and you have seen what’s happened to people at USAID or at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, other places, you are now living in fear.”

Heilemann accused DOGE of leaving federal employees in a constant state of fear for their jobs.

“There are a lot of ways in which it’s supposed to operate,” Heilemann said. “Some of them involve actually trying to cut things. Some of them involve putting the fear of God into everybody about the possibility that they’re going to be able to cut things.”

“I think the fear is as much, has as much of a pernicious effect as the actual question of, maybe a little bit less than when you keep your job or not, but it’s now pervasive throughout the government that people see Elon Musk running amok in the way that he is,” Heilemann added. “So I think there’s damage being done in either case.”
