Hakeem Jeffries just launched a campaign called Fighting for an Affordable America – and gas prices are the centerpiece.
The problem is what Democrats were promising the last time they held power.
Kudlow just exposed the lie – and the evidence is their own words.
Biden's Party Spent $7 Trillion and Promised to Bury Fossil Fuels
Larry Kudlow laid it out on his Fox Business show.
Democrats are convinced they're winning the 2026 midterms on affordability.
That's the party that blew $7 trillion in federal spending and had Jerome Powell's Fed monetize every dollar of it, driving inflation to 9.1% – the highest in forty years and 21% cumulative across Biden's four years.
Biden didn't stumble into high energy prices.
He ran on wiping out the largest source of American energy.
"I will end fossil fuels," Biden pledged as a candidate – a promise his own administration lived out and Congress later cited in a formal resolution challenging his energy policies.
Then he won the White House and got to work.
In his first week, Biden signed Executive Order 14008, halting all new oil and gas leasing on federal lands.
In his first 26 months in office, energy prices rose 37.2%.
By mid-2022, national gas prices hit a record-breaking high – up 80% since Biden's inauguration, and most of it had nothing to do with Russia.
Democrats shut down pipelines, killed refinery permits, blocked new drilling, and taxed fossil fuels at every level of government.
Kudlow said, "They complain now about gasoline prices, but they did everything they could with their radical climate change greenie policies to end fossil fuels altogether and tax gasoline to death in the meantime."
Biden ran on every one of those policies. The last Democrat to try it was Jimmy Carter, who presided over gas lines, double-digit inflation, and an energy crisis his own anti-drilling ideology helped build.
Voters ended that experiment in a landslide.
And now Hakeem Jeffries wants credit for caring about your gas bill.

Gavin Newsom's California Is the Receipt Democrats Cannot Shred
Kudlow pointed to California – and it was the right call.
"Gavin Newsom's California has $6.50 gasoline, which is $2 above the national average," he said.
AAA data confirms it: $6.40 a gallon as of October 3, against a national average of $4.41 – in a state run entirely by Democrats, regulated by Democrats, and governed by a man who dreams of replacing Biden as the face of the Democratic Party.
That $6.40 is within three cents of California's all-time record, set in June 2022 – when Democrats ran the state the same way they run it today.
Diesel is even worse.
A gallon of diesel in Newsom's California currently runs $8.38.
Newsom's response was to suspend California's summer-blend fuel requirement, hoping cheaper winter-blend gasoline would shave a few cents at the pump.
Petroleum analysts put the savings at 10 to 30 cents a gallon – in a few weeks, if anything.
That is the full toolkit of the Democratic governor of the nation's largest state.
California has the highest state gas taxes in the nation, the most aggressive anti-fossil fuel regulations on the books, and a governor who spent years signing legislation that strangled domestic refining capacity – all under total Democrat control.
This is what they built.
Six dollars and forty cents a gallon.
Jeffries Is Asking You to Forget What His Party Built
Democrats built this crisis and they know it.
They lost the 2024 election because voters connected their names to 21% cumulative inflation and $5 gas.
So Jeffries is now running "Fighting for an Affordable America" – five working groups, coordinated surrogates, and competitive-district ad buys – with the same party that created the crisis.
The pitch is that Trump's tariffs are the affordability problem now.
But Biden's $7 trillion spending spree hit American wallets years before a single tariff existed.
Democrats made good on every anti-energy promise they made – triggering the inflation, killing the drilling, and raising the gas taxes.
If they win the House in November, they come back with the same radical climate agenda, the same anti-drilling caucus, and the same war on domestic energy production.
The affordability pitch is a coat of paint on the house they burned down.
The agenda underneath it is the same one that built $6.40 gas.
Larry Kudlow named the con on live television.
Hakeem Jeffries built a campaign on the assumption that voters have the memory of a goldfish.
