The tragic murder of Laken Riley is just one of many examples showing what has happened since Joe Biden let millions of illegal aliens into the country.
The college student’s killer is finally taking the stand as he goes on trial for this horrific cold-hearted crime.
And now Laken Riley’s murderer made one move the day he was questioned about her death that will make your stomach turn.
Suspect giggled when he was taken in for questioning
Georgia nursing student Laken Riley was a vibrant 22-year-old when an illegal alien allegedly took her life on February 22.
The student was brutally murdered after she went for a jog on the campus of the University of Georgia.
Now, her alleged killer, 26-year-old Jose Ibarra, is on trial for murder in Athens, GA.
According to prosecutors, Ibarra seemed to be in high spirits and was giggling at times when he was taken in for questioning by investigators.
A law enforcement official told the court that Ibarra seemed to be in an upbeat mood when he was being questioned just one day after the murder.
Corporal Rafael Sayan, a UGA police officer, was helping with the investigation during police interviews with the suspect because of his Spanish language skills.
Sayan said Ibarra and his two brothers were very “relaxed and calm” when they talked to the police.
All three brothers were questioned during the initial investigation because they matched the suspect’s description.
However, two were later ruled out as suspects when DNA evidence only linked Ibarra to the crime scene.
Sayan said, “There was a lot of laughing, giggling,” noting that all three brothers laughed about how they had been woken up early and taken out of their apartment.
The trial continues as Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard hears testimony from several people, including Riley’s roommate.
Ibarra waived his right to a jury trial, so the judge would ultimately decide his fate.
Judge Haggard also heard Riley’s 911 call just minutes before her death as well as several police interrogation recordings.
Online court records show that Ibarra has been charged with murder, kidnapping, and assault, along with other charges.
Immigration officials say he is a Venezuelan citizen who entered the United States illegally in 2022.
Gruesome findings
Not only did Jose Ibarra allegedly giggle and smile during his initial questioning, but he has also pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Meanwhile, medical records show the cause of Riley’s death was the combined effects of blunt-force head trauma and asphyxia.
The manner of her death was a homicide, according to Dr. Michelle DiMarco, associate medical examiner with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The term asphyxia refers to when someone experiences a lack of oxygen and can be categorized as physical compression, manual strangulation, or hanging.
Dr. DiMarco was unable to determine the exact category of asphyxiation for Riley.
Hopefully, in the end, Ibarra will not have the last laugh.
