Karine Jean-Pierre claims grocery prices drop under Joe Biden
Inflation has become the defining issue of President Joe Biden’s one term in office.
And his regime has never had an answer for it.
With the help of both Democrats and ruling-class RINOs, Biden flooded the economy with $2 trillion in wasteful stimulus after he took office in early 2021.
That unleashed the worst inflation crisis in 40 years, with the inflation rate topping out at over 9% in the summer of 2022.
At first, the Biden regime claimed that it would only be temporary.
When that failed, they turned to blaming Russia.
Biden has never been able to get a handle on the problem, and his administration’s tone-deaf response has done major damage to political standing.
Inflation has consistently ranked as a top issue for voters this election cycle.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was dispatched for a softball interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe in which she told one of the biggest lies of her career.
“Eggs and milk and there were grocery things that were up — it has gone down. It has gone down since 2022,” Jean-Pierre claimed.
But she wasn’t going to stop there with her lying through her teeth.
Jean-Pierre blamed the record-high gas prices under Biden on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“Gas prices, because of the actions this President took, and let’s not forget there was an invasion, Russia did obviously enter Ukraine, that caused gas prices to tick up,” Jean-Pierre said. “The President took action, tapped the SPR [Strategic Petroleum Reserve] and we saw gas prices go down. The President has met the moment with every issue we have had in front of us.”
The Biden regime still doesn’t have an answer for the inflation crisis they created.
Every step of the way, they’ve tried to lie their way off it and hope things miraculously get better.
Karine Jean-Pierre’s big lie
Claiming grocery prices have gone down since 2022 is a jaw-dropping lie by Pierre.
Anyone who’s made a trip to the grocery store knows this isn’t true.
Prices for all goods and services are up more than 20% since Biden entered the White House in January 2021.
A trip to the grocery store continues to get more expensive as prices continue to rise.
“Food prices jumped 6.3% in 2021, and 10.4% in 2022. In 2023, food-price increases slowed, with the index up 2.7%,” TheStreet reported.
May’s Consumer Index Price Report (CPI) found that food prices increased from the previous month.
And gas prices are still up significantly from when Biden took office.
His decision to go all-in on the Democrats’ war on American energy production sent gas prices soaring and consequently helped fuel the spike in inflation.
Biden has a 36.8% approval rating for his handling of inflation in the RealClearPolling average.
Karine Jean-Pierre can’t lie her way out of voters experiencing the pain of high prices with every trip to the store.
