Democrats are getting nervous about the state of the Presidential race.

Things are not playing out like they expected.

And Kamala Harris got some bad news that had alarm bells ringing for Democrats.

Kamala fails to connect with Detroit voters

One of the biggest stories of the 2024 election has been the gains that former President Donald Trump has made with black voters, particularly black men.

Polling suggests that he could turn in the best performance with black voters for a Republican Presidential candidate since former President Richard Nixon in his ill-fated 1960 campaign.

There were questions over whether Trump’s gains with black voters would actually materialize on Election Day or if it was a polling mirage.

The actions of Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign suggest that she’s panicked about having the black vote stay home or shift enough to Trump that it costs her the election.

Former President Barack Obama recently scolded black men who were thinking about voting for Trump during a campaign stop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Michigan has become a must-win state for Kamala with her trailing Trump in swing states like Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina.

The key to Democrat victory in Michigan is running up massive margins in the city of Detroit.

Kamala made a trip to Detroit to connect with black voters and held a town hall with radio host Charlamagne, whose show, The Breakfast Club, is the most popular hip-hop and R&B morning radio show in the nation, making it a must-visit for Democrat politicians.

Her trip to the Motor City didn’t feel authentic to some residents of the city.

“She really be in and out,” Detroit resident Ashey Johnson told Politico

Kamala has to work to convince skeptical voters

Kamala will overwhelmingly win Detroit on Election Day, but if her turnout drops or Trump eats into her margin in the city, it could cost her Michigan.

The Trump economy is leading some black voters in the city to back the former President.

Quaviaus Rodriguez, a 45-year-old Detroit resident, is voting for Trump based on the economy.

He’s a property management owner after turning his life around after jail.

“I turned myself from a convicted felon to owning over 25 houses in Detroit,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez opposes Kamala for arresting black men on small marijuana charges as San Francisco District Attorney and California Attorney General.

“Marijuana has been the gateway to lock younger black brothers up and get them their start to a criminal history,” Rodriguez said.

Retired civil engineer Mark Weldon didn’t think much of Kamala’s interview with Charlamagne.

“She was the Vice President,” Weldon told Politico. “I felt like there could have been a better job of tightening that border up.”

Kamala’s struggles in Michigan extend outside of the city of Detroit.

A Democrat strategist in the state said that she’s struggling with white, working class men.

“This is not a secret,” the strategist said. “In Michigan, one of [Kamala’s] particular challenges is with white working-class men in the I-75 corridor from Detroit to Flint. … She’s got to shore up those voters.”
