Democrats continue to claim that electric vehicles are the future of the automobile.

Now their environmental extremist agenda is in shambles.

And Joe Biden got some bad news about electric vehicles that confirmed the worst.

Nissan delays plans to ramp up electric vehicle production

Japanese automaker Nissan announced that it is postponing plans to begin production on five new electric vehicle models at its assembly plant in Canton, Mississippi.

The news comes after the automaker invested $500 million into the Canton plant to prepare to produce electric vehicles (EVs).

“We are adjusting the timeline for the introduction of these five new models to ensure we bring the vehicles to the market at the right time, prioritizing in line with customer demand and maximizing the opportunity for our brands and supplier partners,” Nissan told CNN in a statement.

Plummeting Bidenmobile sales make Nissan the latest automaker to scale back its plans for them.

The company’s Canton assembly plant currently builds the Altima sedan along with the Frontier and Titan pickups.

One of the electric vehicles that was supposed to begin production at the plant was the Nissan LEAF.

The LEAF had been the second best-selling electric vehicle in the world, behind the Tesla Model 3, before the company released its Model Y, which has since dominated the market globally.

As one of the few electric vehicles with a sticker price under $30,000, Nissan hoped it would appeal to younger drivers who are more likely to consider electric.

But even with President Joe Biden, his fellow Democrats, and ruling class RINOs handing out EV tax credits, the demand for the LEAF wasn’t there to justify switching production over from trucks to it.

Sales of Bidenmobiles are declining and automakers are forced to react

The decision makes Nissan just the latest automaker to rethink its electric vehicle plans, as consumers haven’t embraced the transition to EVs as quickly as Democrat environmentalists originally claimed they would.

General Motors announced that it was postponing plans to build a second factory in Michigan to build its electric Chevrolet Silverado.

Ford announced that it was pausing plans to build a new plant to manufacture batteries after it was reported that the automaker lost around $130,000 on each of the 10,000 Ford Model E it produced in the first quarter of this year – and those losses don’t include additional costs of interest and taxes.

The Detroit automaker announced that it was delaying plans to release some of its new electric vehicle models.

“The additional time will allow for the consumer market for three-row EVs to further develop and enable Ford to take advantage of emerging battery technology, with the goal to provide customers increased durability and better value,” Ford said in a statement.

Biden’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that sales of battery electric vehicles fell for the first time since the pandemic in 2020.

The grim reality facing the auto industry is that the consumers who want to go electric have already made the switch.

And the electric vehicle market could be a saturation point with current technology.

Consumers are wary about the high prices, lackluster range, and lack of public charging stations for them.

And the government’s $7,500 tax credit for them could be clawed back if former President Donald Trump wins November’s election.

The grim reality for environmental extremist Democrats is that electric vehicle demand may have already peaked.
