Most Americans enjoy a good concert.

But too much alcohol and a few bad actors can turn a fun concert into a nightmare experience.

And now Iowa police revealed the utter carnage left in the wake of this recent George Strait and Chris Stapleton concert.

Concerts make up an enormous portion of the music industry in America and across the globe.

In 2023, the events company Live Nation organized over 50,000 concerts worldwide and generated $22.75 billion in revenue.

Concerts are so popular that May 5 is officially recognized as National Concert Day in the United States.

On Saturday, country music legend George Strait performed in front of thousands of fans at Iowa State University’s Jack Trice Stadium.

Known as the “King of Country Music,” Strait holds the record for the most number-one songs on all charts by an artist across all genres of music.

Strait also holds the record for the largest indoor concert crowd in America with his 2014 performance in Arlington, Texas, drawing 104,793 fans.

But Strait shared the stage on Saturday with fellow country music star Chris Stapleton.

Even though Stapleton didn’t produce his first album until 2015, he has since won 10 Grammy Awards, 10 Academy of Country Music Awards, 14 Country Music Association Awards, and five Billboard Music Awards, among many others.

Saturday’s concert was the first concert held at Jack Trice Stadium since Strait’s Country Music Festival in 1999.

Despite a starting cost of $90 per ticket, country music fans packed into Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday to see Strait and Stapleton.

Even though the doors did not open until 4:30 PM, thousands of concert attendees filled the parking lot for a tailgate party before the show.

Of course, thousands of fans drinking for hours before the concert could have ended up as a disaster.

However, according to the Iowa State University Police Department, Strait’s and Stapleton’s fans were on their best behavior during the concert on Saturday.

In fact, only seven people were arrested, and five of those were for simply being intoxicated in public, while 91 first aid calls were made, and one minor was cited for underage possession of alcohol.

Police only had to boot one person from the concert out of thousands.

“We would like to thank all our public safety partners who helped us last night for the George Strait Concert,” the Iowa State University Police Department wrote on X. “It takes a team to pull off safety & security for an event! We could not do it without our partners. We will see you all back at Jack Trice Stadium when football begins.”

In a follow-up post on X, the Iowa State University Police detailed the number of arrests from the concert on Saturday.

“Final Concert stats: 1 citation, 7 arrests, 91 first aid calls, 5 Ambulances Conveyances,” the Iowa State University Police reported. “Thank you to all the great George Strait concert fans.”

With all of the chaos taking place at crowded events lately, George Strait and Chris Stapleton certainly breathed a sigh of relief at how well-behaved their fans were in Iowa on Saturday.
