Donald Trump signed the bill that put Joe Biden's green energy gravy train out of business.
Now the industry that lost that fight is spending $15 million to remove every Republican who made it happen.
What they're doing to pull it off is the part the green energy lobby is counting on conservatives not to notice.
How the Invest in Tomorrow Coalition Took Out Three Conservatives Who Voted Against Green Energy Subsidies
Rep. Chip Roy voted to kill Biden's green energy tax credits and ran for Texas attorney general.
The Invest in Tomorrow Coalition PAC spent $1.7 million against him and he lost.
Rep. Ralph Norman made the same vote and ran for the South Carolina Senate.
ITC moved in and he lost.
Rep. Andy Ogles supported the repeal of those same subsidies as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill and ran for reelection in Tennessee with Donald Trump's personal endorsement behind him.
ITC dropped $2 million against him anyway, and Ogles lost.
The PAC is run by Tom Matzzie, a solar industry executive, and funded almost entirely by Chris Larsen – the Ripple cryptocurrency billionaire and Democrat megadonor who has poured millions backing Democrat candidates for years.
Federal filings show Larsen personally contributed $6 million of the $6.78 million ITC raised through mid-year.
Matzzie is not hiding what this is.
"No matter how safe you think your seat is, if you politicize our industry, we will come for you, and we will win," he told the New York Times.
Invest in Tomorrow Coalition Calls Conservatives MAGA Traitors while Funding the Republicans Who Fall in Line
ITC isn't just removing conservatives – it's building a Republican caucus that answers to the green energy industry.
When Iowa Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks – a pro-green energy Republican – faced a primary challenger this cycle, ITC spent money on ads supporting her campaign.
The ads ran on conservative media, never mentioned green energy, and promoted her as a Trump ally – and she won.
Against conservatives it wants gone, ITC uses the same conservative media to run attack ads calling them MAGA traitors – without a word about green energy.
One ad against Ralph Norman literally read: "Ralph Norman: MAGA Traitor."
Republican primary voters are watching ads they think came from their own base – but every dollar behind them traces back to Chris Larsen's bank account.
Allison Weisenberger, executive director of the House Freedom Caucus Fund, made the motive plain.
"The House Freedom Caucus is the reason the taxpayer-funded Green New Scam is dead and the left-wing Democrats funding these attacks want the gravy train started up again to fill up their pockets," Weisenberger told the Washington Times.
"They want Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker to get the taxpayer money flowing again, so they can rip off American taxpayers and energy consumers again."
Lauren Boebert, Scott Perry and Five Other House Freedom Caucus Members Named to the $15 Million Target List
ITC is now committing $15 million against seven Republican candidates in the general election.
Three sitting members are on the list: Lauren Boebert in Colorado, Scott Perry in Pennsylvania, and Victoria Spartz in Indiana – each one voted to strip Biden's green energy handouts from the One Big Beautiful Bill.
ITC is also moving to block two conservative challengers who haven't reached Congress yet: Brandon Herrera of Texas and Mike Beltran of Florida, both backed by the House Freedom Caucus Fund.
Two additional targets have not yet been publicly named.
Boebert's 2024 margin was double digits, and Spartz won Indiana by close to 20 points.
Perry's seat is a different story – he held Pennsylvania by barely a point last cycle and draws the same challenger again this fall.
ITC spent more than $4 million in primaries to eliminate Roy, Norman, and Ogles.
The new $15 million commitment is more than three times that, deployed in general election races where outside money reaches further and scrutiny runs lower.
A San Francisco Democrat billionaire is deciding who sits in the next Republican caucus.
It works because conservative voters never see it coming – by the time their representative loses, they've watched dozens of fake MAGA attack ads and never once heard the name Chris Larsen.
The Freedom Caucus killed the Green New Scam.
Now the Green New Scam is spending $15 million to remake the Freedom Caucus in its own image.
