Three Key Takeaways:
- Gavin Newsom’s new podcast, aimed at positioning himself for a 2028 Presidential run, backfired when it alienated both his conservative critics and liberal base, leading to a significant drop in his favorability among Californians.
- Steve Bannon, during an appearance on the podcast, exposed Newsom’s failure to defend California’s left-wing policies, particularly highlighting how extreme environmental regulations have decimated the state’s manufacturing sector.
- Newsom’s attempt to shift away from his far-left positions to appeal to moderates only highlighted his inability to sell the California model nationally, further damaging his political credibility.
Gavin Newsom thought he could fool conservatives with his latest publicity stunt.
The California Governor’s plan backfired spectacularly.
And Gavin Newsom turned beet red when Steve Bannon destroyed him with this brutal reality check.
Newsom’s podcast experiment crashes and burns
California Governor Gavin Newsom launched a new podcast featuring conservative voices in what many see as an obvious attempt to position himself for a 2028 Presidential run.
But according to fresh polling data from Capitol Weekly, Newsom’s favorability has taken a nosedive since launching his podcast experiment.
A whopping 26% of California voters – his own constituents – say their opinion of the Governor has actually gotten worse after hearing him chat with conservative figures like Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon.
Steve Bannon, former White House Chief Strategist, laid it out plain and simple to The Epoch Times.
“He’s jettisoned and he’s proven that he can’t sell the California model,” Bannon said.
“He is running for President and he can’t sell the California model. That, in and of itself, is a huge break,” Bannon continued.
The Capitol Weekly survey, which reached 1,000 Golden State voters, revealed just how badly this calculated move backfired.
Only 13% said their opinion improved after listening to the podcast.
Even more telling, Newsom’s overall favorability rating plummeted from 52% to 47%.
New data on the reaction to Gavin Newsom’s new podcast:
– Favorability amongst Liberals has declined from 46% to 30%.
– While some Republicans agreed with his stances, they overwhelmingly viewed him as insincere, calling him “fake” and “pandering”

One Republican respondent didn’t mince words about Newsom’s transparent ploy.
“Greasy Gavin Newsom is a massive liar. He wants to be President, so he will say ANYTHING if it helps him look good,” the respondent said.
Even Democrats aren’t buying what Newsom’s selling
The Governor’s sudden pivot away from far-left talking points like “Latinx” and his newfound criticism of transgender athletes in women’s sports has his base seeing red.
“Disgusting,” spat one liberal listener. “Charlie Kirk is a f***ing nazi.”
Another Democrat, clearly rattled by Newsom’s stance on trans athletes, fired back: “This is an uninformed opinion. Get your facts before speaking for or against an oppressed group of people.”
Bannon exposes Newsom’s California failure
The real masterclass came during Steve Bannon’s appearance on the podcast.
In a discussion about industrial policy and manufacturing, Bannon cornered Newsom into essentially admitting that California’s extreme environmental regulations and anti-business climate had gutted the state’s manufacturing sector.
“He’s definitely pivoting,” Bannon observed, pointing out how Newsom suddenly claims to support bringing manufacturing back to America – a core Trump policy that California Democrats have fought against with their crushing regulations.
We’ve seen this movie before – Democrat politicians trying to rebrand themselves as moderates when Presidential ambitions come calling.
But their track records of implementing destructive leftist policies speak volumes louder than any carefully orchestrated media appearance.
As one independent voter astutely noted: “Newsom being trashy to appeal to the center. Is he going to run with Liz Cheney as well?”
Newsom’s transparent attempt to play nice with conservatives has accomplished exactly two things: alienating his base and failing miserably to convince anyone on the right of his sincerity.
His inability to defend California’s progressive model on the national stage just confirms what most Americans already knew – the Democrat Party’s radical agenda is poison outside their coastal echo chambers.
