Grabbing a bite to eat from your favorite fast-food joint used to be something most people didn’t think twice about.

But the Biden cost of living crisis has even skyrocketed fast-food prices, causing many Americans to reconsider eating out.

And fast-food companies’ battle to see who can offer the lowest prices just took a wild turn that’s great for Americans.

Sonic rolls out new value menu

Move over Wendy’s, McDonald’s, and Burger King – Sonic has entered the chat.

The fast-food chain has entered the food wars by rolling out a brand-new value menu.

The new menu, dubbed its “Fun.99 Menu,” will offer some of the restaurant’s most popular items at just $1.99 each – before the ruling class’ sales tax kicks in, of course.

Some of the items on the new value menu include Sonic’s Chili Cheese Coney hot dog, the quarter-pound double burger, small tater tots, and its ever-popular 16-ounce shakes.

Other offerings include the Bacon Ranch Queso Wrap and the Southwest Crunch Queso Wrap.

This is the first time the fast-food chain has offered the wraps to consumers.

Ryan Dickerson, Sonic CMO, said the restaurant chain simply “wanted to do something different,” so the company “focused on variety” when coming up with the new $1.99 menu.

He said, “Now more than ever, consumers are focused on affordable food options, but they shouldn’t have to settle for the same old, tired discounts or boring meals.”

Dickerson added that “many restaurant brands” are now offering value meals, “and you see a lot of recycled ideas with limited options.”

In recent weeks, fast-food fans have seen several value meals appear on menus nationwide.

Brands like McDonald’s, Burger King, and Taco Bell are now offering updated value options for a limited time.

The value meals at Burger King and McDonald’s cost $5, and the meals at Taco Bell cost $7.

What already makes Sonic stand apart is that its new “Fun.99 Menu” is here to stay at the company’s more than 3,500 restaurants, assuring customers it will now be here “all day, every day.”

“The Fun.99 Menu is all about choice and fun, whether you want any of our dozen shake flavors, a chili cheese coney, or our iconic tots as a midday snack – it’s all there for just $1,99,” said Dickerson.

There are even more perks at Sonic

Not only will consumers have access to Sonic’s new value menu all the time, but they’ll also get other perks as well.

Guests can also receive half-price drinks and slushies any time they place an order through the Sonic app.

App users can also receive half-price on classic Sonic cheeseburgers on Tuesday nights.

These new value offerings are a smart move since most consumers have been feeling the pinch on their wallets for months on end.

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinksi noted that “broad-based consumer pressures persist around the world.”

“Consumers continue to be even more discriminating with every dollar that they spend as they face elevated prices in their day-to-day spending, which is putting more pressure on the QSR industry,” he said.
