Fani Willis has had a terrible start to the new year.

She was hoping to turn her fortunes around.

But Fani Willis was crushed after cold water was dumped on this last-gasp Hail Mary.

Fani Willis’ attempt to keep her Trump witch hunt alive is doomed

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is down to her last shot of keeping her sham criminal case against President-elect Donald Trump and his allies for challenging the results of the 2020 Election in Georgia alive.

The Georgia Court of Appeals disqualified her from the Trump case in December because of an “appearance of impropriety” after she hired her lover, Nathan Wade, to serve as a special prosecutor on the case.

Willis filed an appeal with the Georgia Supreme Court to reverse that decision.

She argued the Georgia Court of Appeal’s decision was “overreach” and “created a new standard for disqualification” that the judges didn’t have the power to enforce.

The fate of her witch hunt rests in the hands of the Justices of the Georgia Supreme Court.

CBS News legal contributor Caroline Polisi predicted that Willis’ appeal would fail because of the “conservative” makeup of the higher court.

“The appellate court in Georgia overturned that trial court’s decision saying that Fani Willis could stay on the case,” Polisi explained. “There was an appearance of impropriety that Fani Willis had engaged in this romantic relationship with a prosecutor she hired, Nathan Wade, and that the remedy, therefore, would just be that Nathan Wade had to leave the prosecutorial team.”

Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee ruled that either Willis or Wade had to leave the Trump case in the conflict of interest challenge against her.

“Now the appellate court said, ‘Uh uh,’ she and the entire office needed to be removed from this case because this appearance of impropriety really is too great for the public to stomach and that even though there wasn’t an actual conflict, that that appearance is enough to disqualify her,” Polisi stated.

Georgia Supreme Court can deliver the final blow to Willis’ lawfare

Polisi noted that the Georgia Supreme Court overturning the appeals court would be a shocker because it’s known to be conservative-leaning.

“Fani Willis is now taking this up to the Supreme Court in Georgia saying, look, even though that’s not the rule in Georgia that even though there is potentially the appearance of an impropriety, there’s no actual conflict for her office to move forward on the case,” Polisi continued. “I don’t think she has a good chance of winning. It’s a pretty well-known conservative court and they would have to overturn the appellate court. So I don’t see it working out for her.”

Eight of the nine Justices on the Georgia Supreme Court were appointed by a Republican Governor.

Fani Willis had high hopes that her criminal case would bring down Donald Trump.

She was very likely going to parlay the case into a run for statewide office.

Now she’s going to be remembered as a disgrace because of her corruption in using her office to enrich herself and her lover.
