Elon Musk is causing a stir in Washington, D.C. going after government corruption.
He has his sights set on the source of the Left’s power.
Elon Musk waged war against one government agency that Democrats would hate.
DOGE begins to audit the IRS
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and his team at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) exposed the corrupt spending at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
USAID was spending billions of taxpayer dollars on funding left-wing non-profits, transgender initiatives overseas, and the Taliban.
The independent agency was using foreign aid as a front to fund the Left’s agenda in the United States and around the globe.
President Donald Trump and Musk moved to shut down USAID and place it under the control of the State Department.
Democrats and their media allies had a colossal meltdown after DOGE brought their taxpayer-funded gravy train at USAID to an end.
That showed the Washington, D.C. Swamp that Musk and DOGE were a force to be reckoned with.
Now, DOGE is coming after one of the worst agencies in the Swamp, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
A DOGE staffer, Gavin Kliger, has begun to examine the operations at the IRS.
“He’s just getting a lay of the land at the moment,” a source told CNN.
Top IRS officials were sent an email asking to review all “non-essential” contracts at the agency for potential cuts.
The General Services Administration (GSA) identifies a non-essential contract as one that “merely generates a report, research, coaching, or an artifact.”
“Consistent with the goals and directives of the Trump administration to eliminate waste, reduce spending, and increase efficiency, GSA has taken the first steps in a government-wide initiative to eliminate non-essential consulting contracts,” the email stated.
Democrats fume that DOGE put the IRS in its crosshairs
U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) tried to blame DOGE for any potential delays in tax refunds.
“My office is hearing that DOGE is now at the IRS. That means Musk’s henchmen are in a position to dig through a trove of data about every taxpayer in America,” Wyden wrote on X. “And if your refund is delayed, they could very well be the reason.”
Exposing waste, fraud, and abuse at the IRS is the worst nightmare for Democrats after former President Joe Biden added 87,000 new IRS agents to wring every last nickel out of taxpayers.
Trump made it clear that DOGE’s work was expanding across the federal government despite pushback from Democrats.
“The Internal Revenue Service will be looked at like everybody else. Just about everybody’s going to be looked at. They’re doing a hell of a job. It’s an amazing job they’re doing,” Trump told reporters. “That force he’s building — I call it ‘the force of super-geniuses’ . . . They’re very smart people.”
Public opinion polling shows that the IRS is the most unpopular federal agency.
Democrats defended deeply unpopular foreign aid after DOGE exposed USAID.
The party is ready to fight another losing battle by defending the IRS from getting audited by DOGE.
