Donald Trump returned to Washington, D.C. with a score to settle.
He’s finishing one fight with an old enemy.
And Donald Trump took a wrecking ball to the Deep State with one surprise decision.
Trump fires FBI officials as part of a shakeup at the bureau
President Donald Trump signaled he was serious about change at the FBI when he nominated Kash Patel to serve as the director.
The Trump administration is clearing out FBI officials ahead of Patel’s arrival as director.
Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove asked eight senior FBI officials to retire or be fired.
The heads of multiple FBI field offices across the country were also hit with a similar ultimatum.
Sources told Politico that the Trump administration was also demoting or reassigning other FBI officials as part of a major shakeup at the bureau.
The FBI officials put on the chopping block were involved with former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s witch hunt and the bureau’s investigation into January 6.
Bove also asked for a list of all FBI employees involved in the January 6 investigation.
“We understand that this request encompasses thousands of employees across the country who have supported those efforts. I am one of those employees as is Acting Deputy Director [Robert] Kissane,” acting FBI Director Brian Driscoll wrote in an email to every FBI employee.
Some of the FBI agents chose to retire rather than be reassigned.
“The American people delivered an overwhelming verdict on the question of whether or not we need to clean ranks in our law enforcement and intelligence communities and ensure that the partisan weaponization of our justice system ends,” top White House advisor Stephen Miller told reporters.
Trump argues the FBI needs a house-cleaning
The President told reporters that he hadn’t heard about the latest FBI shakeup.
“No, but we have some very bad people over there. It was weaponized at a level that nobody has ever seen before,” Trump said. “They came after a lot of people like me, but they came after a lot of people. No, I wasn’t involved in that. I’ll have to see what is exactly going on after this is finished.”
Trump argued that the changes were needed at the FBI.
“If they fired some people over there, that’s a good thing, because they were very bad. They were very corrupt people, very corrupt, and they hurt our country very badly with the weaponization,” Trump explained. “They used the Justice Department to go after their political opponent, which in itself is illegal, and obviously it didn’t work.”
The FBI pushed the Russian collusion hoax during Trump’s first term to undermine his Presidency.
Accountability is coming to the bureau after it launched a soft coup against the President.
Hundreds more FBI agents could be potentially on their way out the door after the Trump administration reviews their files.
Kash Patel will have a head start on clearing out the bad apples at the FBI after he’s confirmed and takes over as the director.
