Senate RINOs are quietly plotting to stop Donald Trump’s agenda.
They learned there was a high price to be paid for doing it.
And Donald Trump put the Republican establishment on notice over this awful betrayal.
Trump threatens RINOs with Primaries
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (RINO-KY) led the charge to stop former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) from being confirmed as President-elect Donald Trump’s Attorney General.
Gaetz’ decision to withdraw gave establishment RINOs in the Senate the confidence they could sink some of Trump’s other cabinet nominees, preventing them from enacting real change.
Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth has faced an unrelenting smear campaign from Democrats and their media allies based on anonymous sources that has some Senate Republicans going wobbly.
Trump warned Senate Republicans that a Primary challenge could be in their future if they are “unreasonable” when it comes to opposing his cabinet nominees.
“If they are unreasonable. I’ll give you a different answer, an answer that you’ll be shocked to hear,” Trump began. “If they’re unreasonable, if they’re opposing somebody for political reasons or stupid reasons, I would say – has nothing to do with me – I would say they probably would be primaried. I could see that happening.”
He once again stood by Hegseth while he’s taking the most flak.
“I think Pete Hegseth is making tremendous strides over the last week,” Trump stated. “He’s going to be great, look, he went to Princeton, he went to Harvard, he was a great student there. But he really was, from the first day I met him, all he wanted to talk about was the military. He’s just a military guy. I think it’s a natural, this was my idea.”
Trump and his allies put pressure on weak-kneed RINOs
The President-elect let RINO Senators know publicly that opposing his cabinet nominees came with a political price.
Trump and his allies learned from the Gaetz nomination and have begun pressuring Senators to get them on board his cabinet picks.
Senator Joni Ernst (RINO-IA) was wavering on supporting Hegseth’s nomination and reportedly eyed the Secretary of Defense role for herself in the event he was forced to withdraw.
She faced a public and private pressure campaign to get her on board with Hegseth.
Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird wrote an opinion piece for Breitbart calling on Republican Senators to confirm Trump’s cabinet nominees.
That was seen as a not-so-veiled message that Bird could be a Primary challenger to Ernst when she’s up for re-election in 2026.
Donald Trump, Jr. was among the many America First patriots who called out Ernst on social media.
Ernst flipped to saying she would support Hegseth’s nomination throughout the process.
“Joni, I’m told, got the message loud and clear,” a Trump ally told Politico.
Trump faces potential pushback over Health and Human Services Secretary nominee Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Director of National nominee Tulsi Gabbard, and FBI Director nominee Kash Patel.
Senate Republicans who want to tank Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees will do it at their own political peril.
