Donald Trump Jr. grew up around his father’s real estate empire.

He learned a lot about the family business and the art of the deal.

And Donald Trump Jr. is helping his father secure a historic deal behind the scenes that could change everything for America.

Don Jr. travels to Greenland amid speculation about the country’s future

President-elect Donald Trump startled the ruling class establishment in Washington, D.C. when he proposed that the United States should acquire the island of Greenland as a matter of both national and economic security.

“For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Greenland, the world’s largest island, rests between the Atlantic and Arctic oceans.

It’s an autonomous territory that’s a part of Denmark.

Trump floated the idea of buying Greenland during his first term in office but this time he seems intent on making it happen.

The Danish Government says the territory isn’t for sale, and Greenland’s Prime Minister vowed the island’s future was as an independent country.

That speculation about the Arctic island picked up after Donald Trump, Jr. announced that he was visiting there for his podcast.

Don Jr. and other members of Trump’s inner circle traveled to Greenland where they met with locals at Nuuk, the capital and largest city.

“Today, I had an absolutely incredible experience in Greenland. I was almost shocked by the positive reception that we received from the locals,” Trump Jr. said. “Greenland loves America and Trump.”

Trump’s interest in Greenland

Greenland has a population of about 55,000 people, and 80% of the island is covered in an up to 1,200-foot layer of permafrost ice.

The ruling class establishment wonders why Trump’s interested in Greenland, but there’s a very good reason.

“Why? A few critical reasons,” a source close to the Trump transition told the New York Post. “Sending a strong, deliberate message to Beijing. Not just talk. Action. Making America Ambitious Again. And the president-elect is laying out the early framework of the ‘Trump Doctrine.’”

Greenland and the Arctic are rich in natural resources, like rare earth elements, minerals, oil, and natural gas.

Russia and China are trying to make their own moves in the region.

Atlantic Council fellow Alex Plitsas said that Greenland opened the door to the Arctic.

“There are two main reasons [to annex Greenland]. The first is the large deposits of rare earth elements needed for critical defense and electronics manufacturing,” Plitsas explained. “Second, Greenland has a legitimately large claim to the Arctic and that would provide the US with a stronger position as competition there heats up for navigation and resources.”

China controls most of the world’s rare earth elements which are essential to producing many electronics.

Depending on China is a risky bet moving forward.

“Other major deposits exist in places like Afghanistan, which is also infeasible for a number of reasons,” Plitsas stated.

Greenland could vote on its independence from Denmark this year.

That could set the island up to enter into an agreement of free association like the United States has with Pacific island nations like Palau.

America would provide security for the free association nation which would give it exclusive military access in exchange for providing security.

Donald Trump will have several options on the table for Greenland moving forward.
