Few people speak their minds quite like Donald Trump.

He’s never afraid to say exactly what he’s thinking at any given moment.

And now it looks like Donald Trump also had something to say about pop star Taylor Swift and her political affiliation.

“How does it happen?”

According to a new book, former President Donald Trump had a lot to say about pop star Taylor Swift.

The book, entitled Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass, was written by Variety Co-Editor-in-Chief Ramin Setoodeh.

Setoodeh asked Trump what he thought about Swift in November 2023, describing her as “the biggest celebrity of our times.”

Trump replied, “She’s got a great star quality. She really does.”

He added, “I think she’s beautiful – very beautiful! I find her very beautiful. I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump. I hear she’s very talented. I think she’s very beautiful, actually – unusually beautiful!’

The former President then said that he didn’t really “know” Swift’s music very “well.”

“But she’s a liberal, or is that just an act? She’s legitimately liberal? It’s not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal,” Trump said.

The quotes about Swift were recently published by Variety as an excerpt from the book.

When Setoodeh pointed out that Swift had moved from country to pop music well over ten years ago, Trump said, “Garth Brooks is liberal. Explain that! How does it happen? But he’s liberal. It’s one of those things…”

The author said that Trump then began to “trail off.”

The pop star has, of course, publicly endorsed Democrats in recent years, including President Joe Biden in 2020 and several failed Democrat candidates in her home state of Tennessee.

She explained in an Instagram post, “In the past, I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.”

Swift has since become more vocal about politics

Despite being hesitant to discuss politics early in her career, Swift has become much more vocal in recent years.

Her song, You Need to Calm Down, released in June 2019, slammed those who believe in freedom of speech because she somehow believes they promote so-called “homophobia.”

Some of the lyrics included that someone was “taking shots” at her on Twitter before 7 a.m., and many of her fans felt that she was talking about Trump.

Swift also delved into her decision to become more politically active in her January 2020 documentary Miss America.

She also took a swing at Trump for his response to the murder of George Floyd and the nationwide Black Lives Matter riots that followed.

“After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? When the looting starts the shooting starts???” she tweeted at Trump in May 2020.
