Hollywood can’t stand Christians.

Most anyone who dares to actually live their faith publicly will see their career fall apart.

But Denzel Washington is looking over his shoulder after he made one confession about his Christian faith that Hollywood absolutely hates.

Hollywood is giving into sin

When people turn from God, sin fills their lives.

And the perfect example of this is Hollywood.

Hollywood used to be a religious town just like any other area of the country.

The famous and rich of Tinseltown used to proudly go to church and promote religious films that put the faith front and center.

During the 1950s, Hollywood fully embraced religious films and happily promoted Christianity.

Who can forget the classic film The Ten Commandments with big named actors like Charlton Heston?

But during the 1960s and 1970s, Hollywood fully embraced a culture of sin that we see to this day in its disgusting movies and shows.

And things have gotten so bad in Hollywood that anyone who is a vocal Christian is practically run out of town with their career ruined beyond recognition.

But there are a few Christians who were able to beat the system and live up to their acting potential.

And one of the biggest exceptions is legendary actor Denzel Washington.

Denzel’s journey in the faith

Denzel Washington is as successful as they come in Hollywood.

Nearly every year since the mid 1980s, Denzel has had a leading role in a blockbuster film and, as a result, he has become one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood.

His biggest movies include classics like The Book of Eli, Remember the Titans, and Glory

But most people don’t realize that Denzel is a devout Christian and he has been very vocal about his faith in recent years.

And Denzel is getting so invested in expressing his faith that he just wrote a tell-all article in Esquire about his life and he put his faith front and center.

He first started by acknowledging his foundation in his faith as he described his father as “a man of God. And a very gentle man.”

Denzel then made it clear that it was in church where his faith started and flourished.

The Book of Eli star proclaimed that, “I also grew up in the church. Always in church. And I would see the altar calls as a child, which to a little boy just looks like people come up and then they take them into the prayer room. I knew what that was—people being saved—but I didn’t really know.”

Then he went into his own conversion story into the faith.

He described how he went to church one Sunday and decided to take the call by the preacher to “come on up” and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Denzel remembers, “I had never gone up in my life, but this particular day, I said, I’m going up there. I went up.”

And when he went up,  Denzel was filled with the Holy Spirit.

As he describes this life-changing experience, “I’m hallelujah-ing. I was just feeling. It felt like I was getting lifted up. It felt like my back was arched, and I had my eyes closed. Not that I was going up in the air, but—I can’t exactly describe it. And I was blabbering, and kept blabbering, because I was filled with the Holy Spirit.”

Then he reflects on his obligation to follow Jesus’ Great Commission for all Christians to follow.

“It’s my job to lift God up, to give Him praise, to make sure that anyone and everyone I speak to the rest of my life understands that He is responsible for me,” he said. “When you see me, you see the best I could do with what I’ve been given by my lord and savior. I’m unafraid. I don’t care what anyone thinks. See, talking about the fear part of it—you can’t talk like that and win Oscars. You can’t talk like that and party. You can’t say that in this town.”

A message like that will get you blacklisted in Hollywood.

But Denzel knows that Hollywood could do nothing to him as he has all he needs in the Lord.
